Hi Rob
Welcome to the forum.

Can your seller set you up with a single trip permit ? I'm pretty sure Connecticut will issue one with the right paperwork. (bill of Sale, title application, proof of insurance etc) Cheap, like $30 and allows one trip from A to B or border to border. Can't hurt to ask.

I drove from CA to ME on one issued in CA last summer, cost me $70.

Thanks for the help I'm going to talk to them tomorrow, I do have another question maybe you can help.

here's the listing, it says the engine might a little work to get running 100%
the seller said that it overheated once but hasn't done it since that one time. they said the cooling system might need a little work. Every other thing about the bus seems perfect for my girlfriend and I. But this does worry me a little bit. thoughts?

NY has there own temporary permit for vehicles purchased out of state and need to be driven to your home in NY.
They call it an In-Transit permit.
It cost $12.50 and is valid for 30 days.
Go to this page to see all the things you need to get your permit.

I think the COVID-19 crisis is making it difficult to get such things, unfortunately. The member for whom I may be transporting a new purchase for has told me it's near impossible to get any government documentation, registration, etc. in their state, so I am considering options myself if push comes to shove. The way I get it, it sounds like their state isn't worried about it right now as long as you have proof of insurance. But what about the other six to eight states I would have to bring it through?

Try this... It's as far as I could get without county specifics.

NY has their own temporary 30 day permit to purchase out-of-state cars and drive them to New York State. Cost is about $12.50.
follow this link for the details on what you'll need to get your temporary permit. New York calls it an in-transit permit.
