Homeland Security / Immigration and Customs Enforcement BUS

Hello Skoolie fam,

I was not looking for another project. I ran across this bus in Sunday, and by Tuesday it was mine. It's home base will be in San Antonio, TX. I plan to do this build by myself with the help of my lovely wife and 4yo daughter. Please share your thoughts on this project, and I'll keep you all posted on the progress. I'll start with a few platform details.

-2004 Blue Bird All American 40'
-EX ICE bus
-8.3 Cummins ISC (100k miles)
-Allison automatic w/cruise and retarder
-3 roof mounted Carrier A/C's
-2 hard mounted Carrier A/C's (runs off bus)
-Hot weather package (roof heat shield and super insulated roof, walls, and floor)
-10kw Cummins/Onan quiet run diesel generator
-Breaker panel with lots of room to expand
-50 amp shore power with an automatic transfer switch
-45 gallon fresh tank with pump and plumbing
-45 gallon black tank
-6 new tires
-16 years of passenger grime

Welcome and congratulations on the bus.

That is one fine bus.

Top shelf drivetrain, a/c, generator and low miles.

Wanna sell it?

Yes, it does run well at highway speed. Ran 80mph on the way home from purchasing it. I still had more pedal left.

Got paint in it. Had to deep clean it and prep the surfaces.

I second this, if the timing and the money are right... Still in a holding pattern on the source of my funding... :/

Awesome find, congrats! Can't tell from the interior pics but you mentioned fresh/black water tanks and I'm not seeing a lavatory. In any case, please keep us posted on your progress!

Being up-fitted to transport illegal immigrants, it was built similar to a prison bus. The toilet sat all the way in the back of the bus on the passenger side and had no walls. That way the guards could keep an eye on them. It wasn't built for privacy at all.

Given that this bus was built well, I am planning to build a substantial weekender / multi week home on wheels. I do have a home and business in San Antonio, so I can't be on the road too long. I'll upload my plans tomorrow morning showing what's to come. They may look a little vague, but are to scale. I plan to surprise my family who are currently agents in the RGV TX or are already retired. They should recognize what this is and get a kick out of it.

6'2" to the bottom of the AC covers 6'5" to the top of the dome crest. I do wish it was a bit taller. I'm only 5'5", so it would only really benefit bus guests.

Wow! Looks very clean and has a lot of stuff you already need onboard. Great find I would love to get my hands on something like this. May I ask where did you get it from?

Very nice. I’m betting that it had what I’d consider a hefty price tag too.
