Honk, Honk

Hey!

In the middle of a mid-life plan change and we're considering life on the road for a bit while we check out the country with our kids and pets.

Have a largish family so checking out feasibility of bus life; we're pretty big DIYers so bus conversion is attractive to us if we go mobile.

No commitments, yet; just researching at the moment.

Welcome to the site GB.
We all have to dream before we start on such a project.

I'm not saying the following to dissuade you from starting from scratch, only as a suggestion that may or may not apply to your situation...

Whatever length of time you allot to tackle such a project, in reality it is typically double. Unless you have full time to devote to it, and a credit card without any limits!

Having said that, if you are handy with common tools, and have occasional help for things that might need more muscle than than you alone can muster, it can be done.

Good luck on your dream...

Haha, I'm seeing this a lot; I feel like we've done enough projects to know this is true, but you're right--it's always surprising how much longer stuff will take you even when you're expecting it to take longer than expected. Fortunately, my husband and I both work from home, and we lead a pretty flexible lifestyle, so time isn't a super big issue. It's mostly just trying to figure out if we could legit cram 8 people (plus a couple pets) and a minimum number of their accoutrements into a schoolbus for a year or so without wanting to murder each other by the time a month has passed.

And a limitless credit card would be nice, right? I mean, even without the bus conversion factor, lol!

8 people in a bus for a year will be book writing material when the year is up!

Even in a 40' bus, there won't be much "personal" space, but if only 2 are adults? it might work???

Guess you could always tow a camper along as well, to ensure everyone has good social distancing elbowroom.

Good luck in your potential skoolie plans, and post pics if you go forward with them...

Peteg59 is on to something there. You can get a small(ish) camping trailer for next to nothing and power it with a decent extension cord. Otherwise you'll be all over each other
