Smile Hopeful Schoolies!

Hello All!

We are a small family (mama, daddy, and baby), we have been living tiny for a few years, (Boats and RV's) and are working on buying a school bus this spring to convert into our full time home.

We are are looking for a 40' cummins\allison blend, diesel and manual ideally, and are open to the blue bird, international, etc.

We are curious about what experiences the schoolies out there have had with maintenance on their engines. Whether you recommend diesel or gas, and if your doing the repairs yourself our going to a mechanic. We just want to wrap our heads around the costs involved in maintaining a bus.

We are also open to tips on where to look for bus sales. We have our eye on the BC auction, ritchie bros, and on kijiji and ebay, we've also called some school districts in our area.

Thanks in advance!

We are so excited for this adventure!

Colleen

Hello young family
I too am new at this skoolie way of living and learning by online resources only. I live in Calif and not to many I guess are local
We just got ours 1995 international and already had issuse with battery and fuel filter think the oil is next to be changed and a basic tune up is needed. It's very long and turns are unsettling and finding a place to park in peace is the trouble were having
Ppl just gonna hate sometimes and making effort to cause problems even being on public roads. It's a odd vehicle too most and figuring out it's welcome mat is still being discovered. It's our only chance to make something for ourself s and have a place to be home boondocking and homsteading is our plan. Solar will be our asset for sure
So whatever is added you won't be the only student taking notes. Good luck
