Smile Just bought an 02 Thomas

I'm new to the school busses. I wanted a bus for a couple of reasons. We are going to use it as our moving van to move from Indiana to Florida, and then we want to convert to a party bus in Daytona Beach. We first bought a Gillig Phantom that was a Chicago transit bus. The set up for it was perfect. Unfortunately, the bus was a complete garbage heap. Everything under the bus was corroded, and none of the air systems worked except for the brakes. Finally got some air to the suspension, but finally just gave up on it. Was just eating too much money. Anyway, got a pretty good deal on a Thomas/Cat/Allison, 2002. It's in near perfect condition with only 112k miles. There aren't even any tears in the seats. Too bad I'm not going to be using the seats. I joined this group to learn as much as I can so that I can avoid mistakes. Things I want to do are 1) add a bathroom (found one with all plumbing and tanks out of an old RV) 2) Air conditioning, UGH!! 3) Dress it up to look nice inside and put in a good sound system and maybe a few extras. I also wouldn't mind figuring out a way to separate the driver from the passengers for safety reasons, but I'll see how that goes.
Looking forward to talking with you guys. Thanks for letting me in.

Welcome! So, where did you buy your bus? I bought mine in Whitestown, IN and it's worked out pretty well...

We moved from Fl to In back in the mid 80's. Got really homesick and moved back six months later when the cold weather came.

Thank you. I got ours just north of Indianapolis from a guy who owns several. He uses some of them as charter type buses, and others he coverts in to mobile work shops for his pool service. I think there's a picture of one of his pool buses on his website. I think it's jlpools.com. Not positive about that though. I get to pick it up today. He put in a new alternator for it.

I've seen a lot of people leave and come back pretty quick. But in our case, my wife's medical issues are extremely aggravated by the cold, so hopefully we can stay.
