So a call to the bus yard is probably best to find out. Its either a 5.9 or Cat. I'd rather have the Cat.
Thanks for the link and the info.

William is on the money with the size. Primarily, we are looking for a conventional shortie.

But, to be honest, we are kinda realizing how hard it will be to find what we want and may need to start looking for the next best thing.

Also, we do prefer the vehicle be under 26000 GVWR + hyd brakes so we dont need to deal with license/certification issues.

Maybe we can do something similar where we get a longer bus and just cut off the back?

Take a serious look

http://www.skoolie.net/forums/f14/no...11256-410.html

very low miles..... I dont think you are going to wear this one out in the next twenty years.... not likely to have any rust, generator on board already
short, good road speed even with the transmission that is deemed by many to be "less desireable" already in a paint job that is likely to be in good shape for a very long time. this should be a fly out, dealer tag and drive home.

Hey William! I see a few buses on that page. Are you referring to this one:

https://www.facebook.com/Bahhurs/pos...?__tn__=K-RH-R

That one looks awesome, but it is 20 k+ taxes & tags. We are hoping to keep the whole build around 25-30 k at most. We are willing to spend more than most on a great bus, 20 k may be a bit much for us though lol.

Thanks for always keeping an eye out!

The couple here in Paso Robles still have their bus up for sale. we may shoot them another message with a bit more and see if we can meet in the middle somewhere.

Yup that tis the one.

I know it is on the pricey side. Description says already has generator, so much of the wiring work is already done. I would kind of expected a toilet too, considering what the intended purpose was. Make an offer, I mean the worse that can happen is "NO". You might be the surprise winner.... any ways good luck. I am still keeping eyes open.

regards, william

the bus in virginia

I will be Norfolk the 26, 27 28.... I had to delay my trip there because of the hurricane. If you bought and the needed logistics taken care of... I could drive towards the west. I am picking up parts for my bus in Onacock, virginia. fenders and hood from a fire truck.

Now we need a bus

Looked at some of the links everyone shared and couldn't find our one yet. Still trying to decipher all the lango. Will keep looking.
Hi Aileen! I'm finally diving in and trying to first figure out how to practically find a space to work on a bus. Can I ask how you found that person renting you the work space?

Hey! I can answer that.

We posted ads on Craigslist and searched for other ads about space to rent. Eventually, people started contacting us. It took some time but that is how we did it.

We emailed the bus in Virginia, this is what they said:

---
It was state inspected in August it has automatic transmission but as to which model I am not sure it does have ac and drivers fans windows good no wheel chair lift length not sure it is just 24 passenger tire size is 19.5 with air brakes dash cluster has been replaced at some point it has 5.9 engine which is turbocharged. Hope this helps
----

We trust your judgment. If there is work that needs to be done, though, we would prefer it to be nothing to crazy. I am confident I can learn what I need to work on it but would be great if we can just get started on the renovations than spend a lot of time fixing the bus.

Oh! On another note, we sent out a out a ton of emails for some buses we found on Craigslist. Finally found a lot of shorties. I will post the links here after work.

Thanks!

Ya, San Jose, CA. We are renting some space in a persons backyard.

He has a large yard and works on vehicles there so it works out for us. Charging $300 a month.
