New Bluebird, New member
I picked up a 2003 International 3800 Bluebird, with a manual 6+1 transmission, and a handicap lift. I have already removed all the seats and started the conversion process.
Unfortunately, I had to move in before finishing.
She is a solid bus, only 180k miles, retired from a school district with 18 years of maintenance records. Minimal rust, and the only leak is the rear roof emergency exit. I picked it up and put over 3,000 miles on it on a meandering cross country trip home. Only issue is the fuel gauge does not work. I learned real quick how the prime pump works, and exactly how long it takes to build up pressure if I run it out of fuel.
Looking forward to picking a few brains for ideas on completing my build. My first goal is blanking out many if the windows, and painting it a color other than school saftey bus yellow so I can move it out of the driveway I am renting and into an actual RV park. A working bathroom of some sort would be nice. I've build a 30 amp breaker box wired to 2 15 amp outlets, and installed water connections, although at the moment it is a very primitive set up with a single water spigot and no drain system set up, but it's good enough to keep water in my dog's bowl!
Looking forward to getting to know some of you.
