New member from Hammond LA

Hello everyone,

I am a new member from Hammond, LA. I am interested in building out a bus for my retirement. It needs to be a bus with a wheel chair lift or a kneeling bus with a ramp system.

So far I am leaning towards the rear engine diesels but we haven't 100% decided yet.

I have a full workshop where I can do wood and metal work. I also restore Aircooled Volkswagens and I own a 1974 VW Thing.

If any of you are in Louisiana or Mississippi and need help with projects I would love to see your bus so I can learn more about preparing for my bus.

Thanks,
"CX"

Did you find a bus?

Diesel for sure. Rear engine, you'll get different opinions about that. I wouldn't do it myself but mostly because it's weird. I have heard others talk about cooling issues with RE buses.

Actually I found a rolling office that has a disability lift. The inside will have to be converted into a camper. It will also need windows installed.

Torres, I can't drag my tools to Slidell but if you can drive the bus and you need assistance with welding or fabrication I am happy to help. I need to stay close to home because of my wife's disability.

It has been a while...

My wife and I decided it would take a ton of work and time to convert a bus into a camper. Time we don't have much of so we found a camper that has a roll in shower and wheel chair lift. The price was very low and it had low mileage. We picked it up in Florida during hurricane Irma.

Fast forward to today, I have retired from my job and I just sold my commuter car. I found a bus to make into my shop truck. It is located in New Jersey and we made a deal to purchase it. It is a 2005 E-350 bus with a wheel chair lift. We got an exceptional deal on it. It won't be converted into a camper but I would like to post photos of converting it into a mobile shop if anyone is interested.

Thanks,
