new member just saying hi

I bought a 25 foot RV and regretted it after I saw and I always bus conversions I now want a 35 ft coach with storage below the floor.
I'm looking at a 1955 GM with a 671 motor, body looks good, inside will need some work for $4,500 . any thoughts would be appreciated.
I live in NW Washington state and think I would like to do some leisurely traveling for a while.

Another PNW newbie

Greetings, my recent purchase of a 28 footer seems to be just the right size for what I am imagining building. I am soon to begin a 12 inch roof raise with the help of a local welder. I am looking forward to the challenge of building within the limits of a small space.

Have you ever driven a large vehicle with a 4 speed wide ratio non-synchro gearbox?
Those old GM's are sweet but they aren't anything like a "modern" bus. You get 4 speed manual crashbox or a 2 speed auto.
A woman died in one last year when her trans didn't downshift and she cooked the brakes on an 8% grade. Her husband and kids were in a car right behind her when it happened.
So get to know them before making up your mind.

thank you for your concern I do appreciate it , I retired from truck driving for 30 years ,most of it was strictly local and lighter vehicles ,so I know when I get out on the road I have some learning to do still but I am aware of the dangers
thanks again Mauimac

yup they are around....... You might find "bus grease monkey" videos on youtube to be informative.

They see busses like you are talking about all the time. You will get some insight as to pitfalls and problems
