New old guy.

Hi from Texas. I have been lurking here on and off for years. I am now looking for a bus. I will retire soon and I will need a new home.[ Bus ]

It appears I will need to find a bus with good transmission. [ 643 ] I need a full size bus. [ 35 feet ]
I was looking at Florida Churchbus, and saw a lot of buses with 545. The buses he had with the better transmission where expensive. And I think he is to hi priced for me. It is hard to buy in a auction , because I cant find a bus auction close to me where I can go look at the bus. I am a Mechanic so I will do my own maintenance. If anyone hears of a good deal in the Houston area pleas drop me a email. Thanks.

I am willing to travel some to find a bus. Any help finding a bus is greatly appreciated. And I love this forum. You guys build some great homes.
The info here is priceless. Thanks for all the help and great reading hear.

You're in TX, so it would be literally insane to come to FL for a bus.
Keep watching GovDeals, Public Surplus, and the auctions.
Our buses here are the bottom of the barrel for the highest prices.
FloridaChurchBus is just a front for BGA aka- Bus Gougers America lol.

Check out Marion County Arkansas... (just on the AR side of Memphis) - they have about 6 full size RE Thomas buses (they said) that are about to go up for auction. Got mine from GovDeals like ECB said. A Texas bus would be the easiest (check around Houston) - but just to give you another avenue to check out.

Another Tejano...Welcome! --- I agree with the above. Forget Florida. They have a reputation for running their rusty buses into the ground while Texas has some of the best deals on Skoolies anywhere.

Best bet is to buy directly from a school district. You'll pay "wholesale" plus have a good shot at getting the maintenance logs as well. You might touch base with member M1031A1. He worked for the Katy District and personally knows some of their inventory.

Best of luck and let us know how the hunt goes.
