21hrs @60mph will get you 1260miles. If you get 10mpg you'll use 126 gallons, at @$3/ga you'll only need $378 in fuel

That sounds great in theory, but then again, so did the Ford Edsel. And most of us know how that turned out.

For trip calculating purposes, I *ALWAYS* add some extra, especially for a vehicle that gets unknown fuel economy and basically just taking an educated guess. Also, does that include fuel for the trip to go get the bus, or flight/bus ticket?

If you fill up before you get into Fl. you'll only need a bit more to get home. Right now diesel isn't trending anywhere near $3.50/g. Lower Atlantic states are showing it for less than $3.

When someone asks me to calculate a trip, something like this I will *ALWAYS* round up to like 1500 miles, because you *WILL* get off the highway for fuel, food, restroom, and maybe rest (highly recommended). Also because is makes the math somewhat easier. The 10 MPG is an optimistic estimate (and I hope you get at least that good) but be prepared for less, just in case. However, at last check, diesel is somewhat less expensive in other states, so at least you have that going for you.

I will never fault anyone for over-estimating how much they will need for fuel (within reason, of course). I would hate for someone to be stranded 100 miles from home because they under-estimated.

So true Brad but they are sucking all the tank dirt into the system when running that low on fuel. Glad these are buses on the ground.
Imagine an airliner running out at fight level40. How would they get it down for fuel? That's a long way from home.

Hey. Watchya all think about this bus.

2001 bluebird FN FE
180k miles
Cat 3126
84 pass.
Md3060

Seats already removed. Kid said he bought from someone hauling watermelons. Has a bit of rust. Asking 4500. But think I can talk them down quite a bit. And what do you think of the rust?

Where's the picture of the floor? IMHO that's a $2500 bus, maybe $3K.

What is behind the rust in the side? It is very patterened which indicates something manmade is behind there causing it to rust. Any chance yo can get inside to see the floor and under to take a hammer to the rust to see if it is deep rust or surface rust?

Theres too many red flags about this bus. Generally, it looks rustier then I'd expect on the bottom. Look at the 4th picture, the frame rail doesn't look too bad, but the crossmember of the floor looks terrible. That vertical photo with the rusty panel in front of the underbelly storage isn't good either - when the paint bubbles like that, its usually an indicator that there's rust underneath. (Rusty metal expands - that's what pushes the paint out causing the bubble.)

Looks too rusty for a Florida bus.

Some pics of the floor from. The inside. I definitely feel the same. About the panel rust. Fear what might be behind it. And the floor frame does appear to have some pretty bad rust. Unfortunately its 1100 miles from me. Cant just hop in the car to look at it..
