Re: Newbie -> Questions about a Bus

chuck: go back a few pages in everything else and look for 366 hop up, it has a lot of information about the 366 and it's family members. It's a great motor and it's been used for decades in busses and grain trucks. I know someone who swears he gets 12 MPG with his. sportyrick

Re: Newbie -> Questions about a Bus

You don't say where you are located. I happen to know where a bus is located of a similar vintage and of the same size locally. It has a DT360, 5 speed manual trans, 2 speed rear, and some maintenance records to go with it. It's no longer in service, but the owner says it still has a current inspection sticker. He's asking $800....

I was thinking of buying it and just bringing it right to the scrap yard. With scrap at nearly $200 per ton I should be able to get $1400 for it at least. I'd rather see if go to a good home though.

The best bit of advice anyone on this board can give you is one I received as well. Take your time and don't buy the first bus that jumps out at you until you're really sure. There are plenty of other buses out there and a good foundation is key to any conversion. Just take your time and make sure you're really sure before you pull the trigger.

Re: Newbie -> Questions about a Bus

I recently dumped about 3000 pounds of lockers and took in $468. Of coarse I had to split it with someone else but still $234 is still a good chunk of change.
