Taller tire increases top speed, also changes speedo accuracy.

I don't see how it's hijacking a thread when the question is about ground clearance and the "hijacking" is all about how much ground clearance results from a tire.

Tires have ONE diameter. Wheels have ONE diameter. You can change either but the fact remains that the distance from tread surface to tread surface across the center point of the tire/wheel combination is the diameter of a specific tire and changing that number by 2 units will only increase ground clearance by the increase in the RADIUS which is 1/2 the diameter change or ONE UNIT.
It's simple geometry.

Marge said that they changed wheel diameter AND tire aspect ratio, hence gaining more ground clearance than just the 1 inch that the rim diameter change gained.

I was referring to myself in regards to the hijacking comment. I missed the part about changing tire aspect ratio when I first read it. All the confusion and argument would have been avoided if I had read more carefully before speaking up.

I apologize to all and bear no ill will to any.
