Newbies...Rv parts for our skoolie

Hello all. My husband and I are going to take the plunge! We will be converting a 2002 International 10 window bus, we have no idea what we're doing but we're good learners. Here is our question: We currently own a 2004 KZ Frontier Sportsman 28ft travel trailer (back slide adds 4 more ft. We are thinking of stripping it and using SOME of it on the bus. Things like the AC/Tanks/furnace/stove/refrigerator/toilet/tub/ etc etc. Do you think this is realistic?

Very. Some people buy inexpensive trailers to get all those things.
My kids quote Bob the builder "reduce, reuse, recycle" lol

Welcome aboard! I've seen some people purchase RV parts from RV outlet stores and can sometimes find "scratch & dent" stuff on the cheap.

Hello and welcome!

If that trailer of yours is in decent shape, you might want to consider/evaluate whether it's worth more sold for cash in hand than as a donor. Just sayin'.

Welcome runs4sons

People frequently use trailer parts for their build, but it's usually from seriously defunct trailers. If your trailer is in sellable condition you might be further ahead to sell it and use the money to get tanks and things that fit more easily. You know your situation best.

It's a fun process, after the hard parts and cussing is all finished. Worth it!

Have fun.

I agree with Robin. Your trailer may be worth more sold whole than the value of the parts you may salvage.

Personally, I prefer a nicer grade of materials than what you typically find in factory RV's. That is part of what attracts me to the process of converting.

Another advantage to converting your own... You get to do it exactly how YOU want to
