Once a dream, now a reality

What's going on bus people!

It only makes sense to add to the new-guy forum. So with that and with no small amount of joy and excitement, I own a big yellow bus. This has been a long time coming with plenty of encouragement from friends and family along the way. GovDeals was a pleasure to work with, now the project begins.

With a 2007 Freightliner/Thomas Built packing a CAT C7 and an Alison Automatic, it runs just fine (many thanks to the school system for routine maintenance). 90k original miles should mean plenty of life on the road after learning some of the ins-and-outs and endless construction. Can't wait to learn from all the pros and veterans floating around the different forums!

Cheers all

-McCoy

Another Thomas owner, welcome!

Make sure you catch up on mechanical maintenance first and foremost. Get to know your air system, and check out Adept Ape's videos on youtube about the C7. It's a good engine, but like any big diesel engine, repairs can be expensive, so be aware.

Sweet, welcome!
I love my FS65. The C7 with that low miles should be a good one- how many hours are on it?
In any case- look up Adept Ape's Cat vids on YouTube. He has a few on how to make your C7 last a long long time.

Thanks for all the love, folks.

The dash says 675 hours.

According to those numbers, 90k miles in 675 hours, the average speed of your bus is 133MPH. Stock car racer numbers. Pit crew style refueling, then floor it round the circle. That ain't happing in a bus. Maybe add a zero to the hours for an avg speed 13MPH. Otherwise, it's likely had a dash change or assistance rolling the meters backwards. All just speculation.

So apparently there's a mode for Trip Hours. Today I learned.

4600 total hours

It was a reserve bus in a school fleet if that helps any.

If the hours/miles are actual that's great. Would definitely spend the money to "bulletproof" it.
