One Bad B700 Shorty

Hello all! A special thanks to everyone on and maintaining Skoolie.net, this is a great forum you have here. A wealth of information is available to all and that is beautiful. I am thankful to be apart of it and here goes my first post. I have recently acquired a 1991 B700 Thomas bus with a 6.6L engine, it's a shorty with 35 pass capacity and no wheelchair lift. My girlfriend and I purchased it from an old diesel mechanic. At first we were concerned with the amount of mileage this bus had. The odometer reads 430k plus, bus runs great, and I couldn't resist giving her a home/making her a home. I am under the impression it has been rebuilt at least once. I have heard of people putting a considerable amount of miles on the 6.6L engine. If it was rebuilt less than 90k miles ago there is life left in my bus, right? Who else here has a high mileage Bus? Who else has a True shorty bus? Please share what you got!https://imageshack.com/i/poGaJTIRj

im running a 7 row Carpenter international short bus (7 windows behind the driver).. mine is a 1991... I have about 93k miles since the engine and transmission were rebuilt in mine... ive driven it about 8000 miles in 4 months... I had a hiccup with the air brakes when i was on my maiden voyage home.. otherwise she runs like a top..

You sir have a very nice bus! I have done only a basic conversion as of now for the purpose of getting insured. It will be left this way until it has proven to be mechanically sound. I think a transmission servicing is needed for me asap, also drive-line.

Ill go ahead and set the bar for high miles. She has about 500 more miles since this pic was taken the day I got her home. Like you I assume mine was rebuilt at least once. Starts right up, no smoke and runs great. Not bad for almost half a million miles. I have cleaned it since lol

Awesome bus!

With that hood & fenders... I think she needs to be named "Old Skool"

I agreee with your theory do mimal work and drive it around... I used mine as a daily driver (still do sometimes).. to learn how it would act and its quirks..
