I am a college student finishing my second year. I bought a ‘87 international bus during the summer. I was very excited and ready to work on it with my dad. My dad loves my bus and keeps trying to buy it off me whereas my mom and sisters hate the bus and want it gone. But now I’m a bit overwhelmed. My dad and uncle was to make the bus super fast and add a turbo and propane to the engine. I really just want to make sure everything under the hood is happy and to do any maintenance needed. I also have no idea how to go about having power for the bus nor water. I currently live in Wisconsin so everything freezes instantly. I don’t plan to stay in the state too much longer but I’ll be here long enough insulation and water keep giving me a headache.
Does anyone live in a cold climate with their skoolie?
Could someone point me in the right direction for electrical and plumbing?
Thank you in advance for any help, support or pointers!
What engine are you dealing with? If a diesel...most can be reliably pumped up inexpensively. Many without even buying any parts. The 5.9 Cummins is a good example (as is the 4BT). A little tweaking on the fuel screw, a small timing change, and Waalaah! An easy 50 ponies. And if done right you can even get better MPG thrown in. Just make sure you don't overload an automatic tranny. They do have torque limits.
Now...if it's a gasser...that's a whole 'nuther deal.
