place to do conversion

I am having trouble finding a place to do my conversion. Has anyone ever thought of just getting a portable generator and working on the conversion out on public land like forest service or BLM?

We saw people working on their rigs on public lands in Nevada. Biggest issues I see are proximity to stores for supplies, and proximity to a dump to get rid of your debris. We built ours off grid on private property, so you can definitely do it with a portable generator. I'd caution anyone doing this to do it well away from other campers, and to be respectful of the environment. No need to trash things or leave a bad impression of skoolie builders.

eta: Almost all of those places also have 2 week stay limits that are, for the most part, enforced so you will have to keep moving.

Rock-N-Ruth have made offers for people to do their conversions on RnR's land in New Mexico. PM them and see what they say.

I had a driveway when I started working on my shorty. I got about 75% done when I gave the place up. Now I work on it in parking lots around a marina and in the parking lot of a large local hardware store. I’ve been spotted by park maintenance people who looked me over, but because I keep the area clean and I’m organized, they haven’t said anything yet. Industrial areas could work out too.
