Pulling the trigger tomorrow!

Okay. So. It's happening. Buying a bus tomorrow. Not a full size. But not a super shorty either.

Its a 1987 Chevy 34' 8.2L Detroit Diesel (non turbo) Allison Automatic.. It was grandfathered in as a Chevy g20 van.

Probably getting in way over my head, but too much thinking and I'll never have one. Ha-ha

Wish me luck, tomorrow shall begin this exciting new adventure!

Welcome to the madness mate. You've found the right place to ask for help. Good luck with your build.

We bought the bus! $2k! Woot!

Finally got her insured and tagged too!

We took her out for a spin to get familiar w driving such a beast and all seemed great til we get home in the evening.

We're backing it in beside the house and I notice a light under the bus... Turns out it's a fire! Damned rear passenger had a small flame in the wheel well.
(Google tells me tire fires are a major cause of watching your bus go up in flames!)

Brakes or bearings.. Brakes look solid, but we shall find out soon enuf.

Anyone with any experience with such an issue?

Oh no....let us know what you find. I had a CL A RV that had a fire in brakes from the axle seal leaking!
