Question for a 1992 international school bus

Any body know what sizes batteries it takes. It has a T444e engine in it

if its really a 92 then it would have a 6.9 or 7.3 IDI and not a T-444E, those didnt come out until 94.

most all standard school busses use 2 group 31 batteries connected in parallel.

2 group 31's.
They're $75 each if you have a Rural King.

Or if you live out west they're closer to $250 each.

I can get blems for $35 from my local mom & pop store. With a one month warranty. A rebuilt one is $100 with a 3 month warranty. $35 batteries are in my future.
I was never a fan of blame until my father in law said the one he had was 2 years old with no issues. I tried one in my lawn mower. I'm sold.

The RK's are Exide and have a 1 year warranty.

My bus came with a Duracell battery. Impressed? Or does that make this a toy?

Mine is also an 8D. It just happens to be branded and labeled as a Duracell. Didn't come with the bunny.

Just means someone went to a retail battery store instead of a truck battery store.
Computer/internet people tend to buy Duracell. Batteries +
I've had one or two, they were good.
I just buy the cheapest batteries I can find and I've never had any battery problems. But I'm in the Sunshine State, too.
IIRC an 8D is around a buck twenty or so at RK... lemme check. I prefer two 31's, myself. More cca, and much easier to replace.

You're right. I think two 31s are a better setup to run too. Not to mention being able to lift two separate 31s easier than one 8D. If one battery goes bad, you can still run on the other single battery.

My 8D Duracell looks new and just happened to come with this bus. They took everything else out. They didn't even leave me the drip bucket for the hatch. No spare tire either.

CB; I was finally in town and went looking for Diesel Kleen. Found it, but the counter guy seemed very knowledgeable and recommended Lucas. I added a pint, recommended for a full tank of fuel, on my half tank of diesel. Drove 30 minutes toward home then filled the tank at the last small town. This thing pretty much stopped smoking at startup and runs smoother while cold. It seems to have ungummed the rings and other stiction parts rather quickly. I wouldn't have thought it would have made that much difference.
Now I'm going to have mosquito problems without the white fog.

The 6.9 was discontinued at the end of '87, with the 7.3 taking its place.

I typically use a pair of Group 31's and call it good.

On the hood of my bus. It's a 1992 but it has T444e on the hood. It's when they made the side exit emergency door on them

The hood could be from a '94 or newer bus.
