Ready to Jump In

Boyfriend and I have been browsing buses on auction sites and craigslist. Yesterday we went and saw a bus in person for the first time and I think we're ready to take the jump.

Its a 1995 bluebird. It has a 5.9 cummins engine with 167k miles and an allison transmission. Tires look decent, no rust. Air brakes. He's letting it go for 2k.

Good bus? I feel like yes. Kinda scared but really excited. We're going to go pick it up tomorrow since it's local to us.

Looks like a nice bus!

One thing to consider is how you are going to use the bus and what transmission it has behind that 5.9.

The 5.9 is a very good motor but a bit light on power in a full size bus. I have heard from folks here that have 5.9s with Allison MD3060 transmissions and they are happy with them. However if the bus has the AT545 and you have plans to drive over mountains you may not be happy with the performance.

Good luck!!
