Registration in NC

Hello everyone!
I have a 98 International school bus 7.3 5 speed spicer. Gross vehicle weight 27500 lb.
I just got the DOT inspection. What would be the ideal registration in North Carolina and insurance type.

Hi Cuda71, has your title been converted to a "house car" by DOT Officer ? I got an officer come to my house to inspect and convert the title from bus to "house car" (came approx 4 weeks after placing a request). Was very easy. My bus is insured with Good Sam, liability only, for a whopping $105.61 per year. I will look for a more comprehensive one later, but my couple phone calls last year where not successful. I am in Greensboro, NC.

Wow!!
No I did not convert it to a " house car ", but that is very interesting! I changed the title to my name.
My bus has no seats now ,put a clutch in and wanted to start driving it to get supplies for it .I'm in Mayodan NC

Check on the NC DMV website for the requirements to be met for a title as “house car”. Basic stuff : sink, water, bed, fridge, power, etc ...
For the insurance, I had to send pictures in and out. I had to remove my roof deck, as none of the insurance companies I contacted wanted to cover a conversion with a roof deck.
