Skoolie Fever

Hi Everyone-

I've been looking at charter bus conversions and have decided instead to buy a bus with a manual transmission and a tilt front end and go the skoolie route. The pusher buses are nice but I'd hate to have to service and repair one. I plan on converting a bus to a full time RV with solar panels on the roof and house batteries along with a backup generator. I'd like to know if anyone has experience building under floor storage compartments to house a generator, holding tanks, house batteries, etc.

Many thanks to the developers of this website. I appreciate the time and effort that's gone into making this such an informative resource! -Jim

some of the busses you find (dognose, tilthood) the 12 row ive seen with under-belly storage...

its a lot more common on the RE and the flat-front front engine (FE) busses though..

finding a stick will be tough, there areny many out there... you see a few.. look hard and long and you can find what you want.. over the years school busses have been made it a ton of different configurations.

Thanks Christopher- I'm going to look at a 72 passenger Thomas with a mechanical pump DT466 6-speed. It has around 150k miles. Most of the seats have already been removed. I'll let you know how it turns out.
