We finally got a bus!

After several years of dreaming and planning we finally pulled the trigger on a bus. Very excited and nervous and excited! 😁

2015 Blue Bird RE with a Cummins 8.3 & Allison MD3060. Found on Facebook marketplace less than 2 hours away. Drove it home and only managed to hit 1 curb.

Spent several hours today cleaning up from the previous owner removing the seats. And also removed one of the plywood flooring sections. Definitely gonna have some rust to deal with, which is expected for an Ohio bus.

Been lurking and learning from this community. Will share more pics and updates soon.

One curb is nothing. You made it home safe and sound.

What are you going to do with that bus? Toy hauler, weekend camper, traveling business, tiny home...

thats cool. that you got to drive it home! i spent about about 1-1/2 years looking for a shorty that was in decent condition. they are kinda hard to come by. i drove it home over a mountain and was nervous LOL. looks like you have plenty of room to do some cool custom work!

Thank you! Sorry for the late reply, we've been busy getting our property ready to bring the bus home from storage. This will save us $250 per month and allow us to work on the build at any time. We would have also had to buy a generator to be able to use power tools, so that's another savings for now.

That's good to know! I feel like it's a lot to handle but as long as you take your time and watch your mirrors, you should be fine.

Our initial idea at the beginning of Covid was to build it out, sell our house and travel full time. Due to job changes and other factors we've decided to keep our house and use the bus for long vacations, weekend getaways and camping. We have a Jeep Wrangler (TJ) that we will be flat towing so we can go on adventures offroad.

Yeah, I know the feeling. We held out to get the exact platform we wanted... 40 ft. pusher, with the Cummins 8.3 and that specific transmission. There were a couple of auctions we missed out on because the prices went over 10K. Just wasn't willing to pay that much since it would make a serious dent in our overall budget.
The dream was delayed but we never lost site and stayed the course.
