Engine may very well be the 8.1 496 gasser, the year range is right. Expect fuel mileage between 4-6 MPG. Unless it's been rebuilt, it's probably approaching a major overhaul soon. My advice? I'd pass and get a diesel. You'll get much better fuel economy and better engine longevity.

I'd pass on *ANYTHING* diesel above 2004, they have emissions hardware that get very troublesome and expensive. International/Navistar T444 engines are adequate and reliable but not known for being terribly powerful, same for the Cummins 5.9 (exceptions apply, research before buying). The DT466 or Cummins 8.3 will be plenty powerful, have excellent reputations and parts availability, and set up properly/driven sanely should average around 10 MPG on the road.

Does an 8.3L GMC Gas bus even exist? I feel like the ad I'm looking at doesn't have any idea what they have....
