2007 Thomas with C-7 engine

Hi everyone!
I've been lurking for a long time on the site. Found it through a bus called Molillicent??? (Found Millicent when looking up Burning Man)
.
I've been full timing for a year now, first in a travel trailer, now a Class A. I hate these sticks and staples pieces of trash!

Looking at a Thomas built 2007 HDX with a C-7 (my understanding is its not the best choice of engine?) and a 3060? transmission.

It is a full length RE. Just what I've been imagining for full time bus living! And it's in my price range!!!

My question is this: the description is sparse, it says it runs and drives, but needs a HEUI pump. Looks like a rebuild kit is about $150.
Does that sound reasonable???

I'm an old gasser mechanic (mostly GM wiring but I can bend a wrench on most stuff).

Sorry for rambling!
-Don

Not that familiar with Caterpillar, but 07+ is generally when the aftertreatment systems started, and they don't call that yellow color Caterpillar Gold for nothing. ECCB would know about this setup, methinks.

I'd pass. Too new of a year and the c7's aren't that reliable.

If it needs a heui pump, you're looking at buying the pump, not rebuilding what you have. Plan on spending $1000's to fix this if the pump is actually bad. Most times we replace injectors at the same time because a failing pump will push metal through the injectors and ruin them. So when they're not replaced, you'll typically be back shortly with misfire codes and other issues from the failed injectors.

Keep on searching, you'll find a good one soon enough.

Thanks guys.
I am disappointed, but it is what it is.
I'll keep looking!

(I hate these factory built RV's though!!!)

I'd avoid a c7 with hpop issues. There could likely be more damage. I'd take a c7 but would want to start with one that was 100%.
