Camo, I'm actually building the 203/205 doubler you're talking about for my Blazer... It's going behind my t400... I'll post up pics of some of the progress...
if you want to crall you need a stick. like a sm465 or the best four speed the sm420 with the first and revese of 7.05-1

I've got buddies that have 465s and are converting to t350 or 400... Way more control when you're crawling... Most of the buggy guys are going the same route... With the doubler, that gives a 4:1 in the t-case... I've got 4:56s in the axles...

I've drove Blazers with doublers and the stick or auto, the gearing is plenty low with the auto...Yeah, the 465 has lower gears... But, you can stop and control yourself better with the auto... Especially if you're about to flop on your side...

Thats a very nice looking dodge!! Who swapped the 440? That would have to be a real runner, right up to the gas station.

Re: 4x4s and Wheeling Rigs...

And the current "wheelers" The dodge: 4" lift, duel shocks all around, E-lockers, 4:56 gears, 36" all terrains, 9000 lb. winch front and rear, full interior cage, and all the little off road goodies. The Toyota: 3" lift, 295's, factory locker in rear, E-locker in front, rock rails, bushwackers, and a "system" that will vibrate your testicles numb Both are used for everyday drivers and Search & Rescue (It's a tax deduction thing, Till the Feds take that away also.) And when all else fails.........Polaris: 2" lift, 14" rims, 27"swampers, winch F&R, sliders, swapable rack system, full armor underneath, aux. lighting, 45 watt county radio, and a new seat cover every three years from the pucker factor

Re: 4x4s and Wheeling Rigs...

Hey Timbuk, My BC buddy. Those big wheels on the quad make it kind of squirrley on the top end but it will fling softball sized clumps of mud in the air, and on the driver.
The stude was a challange. A dent in every square 6". I worked with an "Old time" body man who taught me the dying art of leading body panels. The sheet metal was thick enough to actually stick weld on. It got a lot of looks and compliments when it was done and driving around. Traded it for a 78 Z-28/T-top. That ws a mistake.

Very nice. I would like to have one. However, I don't think there is one left in Iowa, that's not rusted out.

Here is my Series III Land Rover. I put a winch on it three years ago and started getting it muddy.

Re: 4x4s and Wheeling Rigs...

Here is one of my 71 blazer on the last decent wheeling trip I took.

Thought I would add an ACTION pic to the thread!!

Here in NY there really isn't much land to wheel on, and none of it's public.
But hey, thats why I bought my bus! So I can move back to COLORADO where the real fun can be had!

This pic is a few years old. It now has one tons, detroits, 40's, a ramsey 9000lb winch, and a real soft top.
I have a very nice double wall top for sale for a first gen blazer if anyone is interested.
