Add Low Windows?

Anyone ever added or seen windows below the original bus windows, in that space below?

I'd like to have some open floor space, and have a little one, and think it would be nice for her to easily see out of the bus while sitting on the floor.

Also, I just like windows.

There was a user here recently who did exactly what you're suggesting, and it worked out great (I can't remember who it was, cursed search function). I was thinking of doing it myself since I have a spare emergency exit window, but I decided not to for privacy reasons.

You'd have to cut into the chair rail to do it (or else put it at the bottom of your lift door opening) which I'd be hesitant about.

Ah, I knew there was someone out there. I have some searching to do.

Why would you need to cut into the chair rail? Could you not put it above the chair rail and under the bottom window rail?
I know nothing about adding windows, a purely dreamy idea at the moment.

You can see in your picture that you don't have sufficient room between the bottom of a window and the top of the chair rail to fit a whole other window. You may not even have room with the chair rail cut away - my windows are 29" tall but the bottom of each window is about 27" from the floor so they wouldn't fit. The one I was considering putting in is from a low-ceiling bus and is only 23" tall so it would have made it, although I still would have had to cut a few inches out of the chair rail.

You could also cut an opening and rivet in a piece of Lexan, much cheaper and simpler.

Lexan sounds like a good idea, thank you.
Yeah, I was thinking just a little peephole window that doesn't necessarily open. Maybe there's a scrapped prison bus around. Privacy would certainly be something to consider.

I thought it was DrDanger I was talking about, but I searched his pics and didn't see that window. Thanks for finding this.

How about an outside wide angle camera and a flat screen monitor near the floor?
