Advice wanted! 84 Eagle
Found a cool bus I want to buy... it’s an automatic. Our family has no experience driving or owning a bus yet. We hope to live in it full-time and Boondock as much as possible. Any thoughts on this bus for sale?
1984 Eagle with a Detroit 6v92 and an Allison Transmission previously owned by a private school. The engine overhauled before we bought it. It runs strong with no smoke and a clean and smooth shifting transmission. The Bus was checked out by a qualified diesel mechanic about 4000 miles ago. The oil was changed about 2000 miles ago and it has really great tires with lots of miles left on them. The fuel gauge is new and the ignition was rewired to crank from the front in lieu of its original design to crank in the back. We also just installed brand new batteries to crank her up.
This bus is fully converted to run on SOLAR power or on the grid. There are 1600 watts of SOLAR panels on the roof that can be raised and lowered depending on your location and the time of year. There is a full battery bank underneath that will allow you to run off grid for several days even when the skies are dark and grey. The bus has a 3000 watt inverter. The SOLAR install was done by a qualified photovoltaic electrician. The hot water is supplied by an on demand propane water heater.
We completely gutted, cleaned, and insulated the shell with rigid foam. The interior is lit with recessed dimmable LED lights in the ceiling, which is newly installed smooth white FRP, and numerous outlets were installed within the walls. We installed a mini-split HVAC system that heats and cools, and we also have a propane heater when you travel to colder regions. These installation were also completed by an experienced electrician.
The bus is ready to live in, as is, however there are plenty of upgrades that you can do yourselves. I promise we wouldn't be getting rid of it if we had a place to park and live in it.
