Re: Ahhh...."Climategate"

You mean that world wide environmental policies have been decided based on the tree rings of 3 trees, cherry picked to support a false thesis?
That the powers that be past and present are either duped dunces or willing participants in the plot?

Huh, hadnt heard of that one...

I will still be hoarding the incandescent light bulbs, because they wont stop their grab for power simply because their lies are exposed. Oh, and CFL bulbs simply suck.

No one suggested it would stop them. That is the truly sad part.

Re: Ahhh...."Climategate"

The Asheville connection to Climategate; The "Climate Change Science Project" (CCRP) was created from the Oct. 03 Asheville NC workshop "Identification of the importance of a regional focus in order to better understand and reconcile temperature trends" CCSP report editor Thomas R. Karl of NOAA Asheville. The "National assessment of the potential consequenses of climate variability and change" was co-chaired by Thomas R. Karl of NOAA Asheville and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), convening lead author (CLA) was Thomas R. Karl for 1990,1995 and 2001, he was review editor for the 2007 report. He also was co chair of the report "Global Climate Change Impacts in the U.S. for the United States Global Change Research Program. Karl is currently head of the National Climatic Data Center for NOAA in Asheville ( AKA the World Meteorology organization World Data Center) Anyone else seeing a pattern appearing? Roger A. Pielke Former CLA of chapter 6 CCSP report who resigned in protest of editor Karl's removal of his comments regarding discrepancy of data between tropospheric measurements [satellite] and radiosonde [surface] measurements had this to say " The selection of the same individuals to review the topic as have completed the studies under review is an obvious conflict of interest. Moreover most of the authors have published together. This conflict of interest includes the editor who consistantly rejected efforts to assess identified uncertainties in the surface temporature record which is the main focus of his published research activities." http://www.climatesci.org/publications/pdf/NR- see his e-mails at eastangliaemails.com keyword asheville note the last one pointing out satellite data was removed due to a "residual cold bias" 143http://www.mountainx.com/news/2007/bigwigs_in_science_use_climate_data_from_asheville/ http://www.mountainx.com/news/2007/041107karl/ http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/res ... ate97.html http://usgcrp.gov/usgcrp/Library/nation ... ewbios.htm http://globalchange.gov/publications/re ... ction-team

More info on the Asheville climate fraudsters: http://www.kusi.com/weather/colemanscor ... 59212.html or watch the whole series at: http://www.kusi.com/weather/colemanscor ... 83352.html this e-mail makes a lot more sense now... http://eastangliaemails.com/emails.php? ... 027691.txt "ERSST refers only to the ocean temperature fields. Smith et al. (200 described the
updates to create ERSST version 3. This included the use of in situ and satellite data.
The paper also presented updates to the Land Surface Temperature (LST) product and
culminated in the computation of the Merged Land-Ocean Surface Temperature product.
However, since ca. Nov 2008, satellite data was removed from the analysis, and was called
v3b, but the methodology is essentially the same as in the paper. The reason was that
there was a residual cold bias in the satellite data"

Re: Ahhh...."Climategate"

The entire Global Warming theory is now in trouble, especially as the earth is entering what is being described as a "mini-ice age". It has also been shown that the sea rising theory is having difficulties as the Antarctic ice pack has remained virtually unchanged since 1979.

Quote:
"On Monday, scientists from the Norwegian Polar Institute reported that they'd measured sea temperatures beneath an East Antarctic ice shelf and found no signs of warming whatsoever. And while the discovery's corollaries remain mostly blurred by the few rogue mainstream media outlets actually reporting it, the findings are in fact yet another serious blow to the sky-is-falling-because-oceans-are-rising prophecies of the climate alarm crowd.

For years now, alarmists have insisted that Antarctica is thawing thanks to man-made global warming. They warn that such melting of a frozen continent containing 90 percent of all the ice on the planet would inevitably lead to a cataclysmic sea level rise (SLR). Scary stuff, indeed.

However, there are several problems with their assertions, not the least of which is that all evidence of melting selectively focuses on the only area of the continent satellite evidence confirms is warming -- the western region in general, and the Antarctic Peninsula in particular.

But as ICECAP's Joe D'Aleo observed in 2008 [PDF], the relatively small area of the peninsula offers an extremely poor representative sample, as it juts out well north of the mainland into an area of the South Atlantic well known for its "surface and subsurface active volcanic activity." And in the greater scheme, adds D'Aleo, "the vast continent has actually cooled since 1979."

Antarctic Temperature Trend 1982-2004 from Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) sensors flown on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) satellites. Red indicates areas where temperatures generally increased during that period, and blue shows where temperatures predominantly decreased.

Quote:
Now, even the notoriously alarmist U.K. Met Office admits that the complete Greenland meltdown to which they'd attribute a seven-meter SLR "would take thousands of years" even if temperatures were to continue to climb. It's therefore quite logical to assume that the majority of the predicted SLR is expected to originate in Antarctica.

And yet, other than select ice shelves (which again are already afloat and would have no further impact upon SLR) in one minuscule area soaking in water warmed by volcanic activity, Antarctica isn't melting at all. And with air temperatures averaging consistently below zero and water temperatures barely above freezing -- even in summer -- nothing in the foreseeable future suggests it might...not even should temperatures, which have been falling since 1998, nonetheless rise to the mostly arbitrary yet internationally alarmist-approved [PDF] catastrophic level of 2°C above pre-industrial levels.

In fact, despite the IPCC insistence that global warming will be most prevalent at the poles, southern-hemisphere sea ice area has remained virtually unchanged since satellite sensors and analytical programs were first capable of measuring it in 1979.

So perhaps when the green-gospel-pronouncing IPCC releases its Fifth Assessment Report, tentatively due for 2014, contributors and lead authors alike might carefully consider the NPI findings, the steady rate of SLR over the past 150 years, and the overall resilience of Antarctic ice before formulating their next soggy doom-and-gloom prophecy. (And don't forget this undeniable fact: Across the continent, the 2008-2009 southern hemisphere summer hosted the lowest Antarctic ice melt in thirty years.)

Surely were these people bound by scientific concerns exclusively, there'd be no doubt whatsoever that they’d do just that.

Re: Ahhh...."Climategate"

Old science:
- Observe an unknown phenomenon
- Think of a theory that would explain the unknown
- Perform tests or measured observations to confirm or disprove your theory
- Publish results if confirmed, think of new theory if disproved, maybe publish results anyway for peer review
- Peers duplicate tests or observations to confirm results
- Theory is accepted

New science:
- Determine desired conclusion
- Think of a theory that supports the conclusion
- Publish theory, it may be accepted without proofs
- Perform tests or observations to confirm theory
- Search through raw data for results that support theory, destroy or minimalize data that tends to disprove it
- Think of a defense that explains why ignored data was inconclusive or came from tests that were flawed
- Publish selected data supporting your theory, explain why peer review is not needed
- Have others attack credibility of peers who are skeptical of desired conclusion
- Theory is accepted

The difference is honesty - the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Re: Ahhh...."Climategate"

Quote:
Rajendra Pachauri, head of the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and director general of the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) in New Dehli, India, said this week that the U.N. body was studying how its 2007 report to the United Nations derived information that led to its famous conclusion: that the glaciers will melt by 2035.

Today, the IPCC issued a statement offering regret for the poorly vetted statements. "The Chair, Vice-Chairs, and Co-chairs of the IPCC regret the poor application of well-established IPCC procedures," the statement says, though it goes short of issuing a full retraction or reprinting the report.

Quote:
Pachauri, the IPCC chief, is under attack on another front, as well, as newspaper reports in India have commented repeatedly on his reportedly lavish lifestyle. TERI receives funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, both of which did not respond to requests for comment from FoxNews.com. Reports indicate that there also are concerns in the United Kingdom surrounding 10 million British pounds in funding for TERI, and questions about TERI's objectivity.

"It's about time that somebody started following the money trail to the big interests that want to prosper from the green regime, while the rest of the economy is crushed," Orient said. "It's not as though the amount were a trickle."

The real reason behind "climate Change" is to empower the United Nations http://www.infowars.com/bombshell-un-do ... vereignty/ from "The UNEP ihat we want" "The environment should compete with religion as the only compelling, value based narrative available to humanity"
