As a US, white, gringo who has spent some time in Mexico over several decades, I have made a few observations.

1) if I was stranded on the roadside... Its far more likely I'd get assistance in Mex than US
2) Most bad stories/experiences you hear in Mex consist of tourist breaking the law and being upset that their entitled antics aren't tolerated.
3) Most violence in Mex is drug gangs shooting each other or at the local police (usually the crooked cops). Stay out of sketchy areas
4) If you go looking for trouble... Chances are, u'll find it. (Regardless of the country)
5) Respect the people, the country, the culture, and the laws .... And you will find Mexicans to be some of the nicest, helpful, genuine, happy people in the Americas. Not to mention hard working... American have great ingenuity, but most lack a solid work ethic

I lived in Vegas for long enough to see people from all over the world have a "black out drunken expedition" that was well tolerated. Can' t speak for Canada. Used to get drunk with a lot of European nurses here in the states and from the stories I heard from them I don't believe that's true for Europe. Asians and Australians must be ok since you didn't mention them. Where do you get all of this bs that you spew?

1) I live in the desert and people stopping to help is a way of life here
2) I wonder why they tell YOU that it is not them.
3) Same thing in the US
4) truth, finally
5) You really are annoying

I expect that the cost of mechanical repairs is low compared to El Norte, but has anyone had experience in finding spare parts for the more popular older skoolie platforms?
useless rants yes...but to answer your query, diesel south of the boarder is no different and has not harmed my engine that requires low sulfer diesel. Many things have changed in recent times, cheveron has set up shop throughout much of it and there is no longer the need to bring extra jerry cans between stops. they're readily available. even when I want to disappear into a secluded beach for a few weeks. My range is 600 miles to a tank but I easily see fuel available within 60-100 miles in any given direction.

as for insurance, its approx $10 a day or $60 per month if you negotiate. another strategy friends use to to insure just on driving days. YMMV

This maddmaxx troll is so full of sh&t I can smell it from here. 30-year connoisseur of 'Mexican Culture', but with a vocabulary limited to 'donde esta el bano?'. Implied age of 45+, but with the posting style of a petulant child. My guess is 17 years old, hates his (very-well-off) parents, & has a crush on his brown-skinned social studies teacher (that would be 'maestra', maxx. take notes).

"You should probably just stay home in "Your SAFE PLACE"

You are probably correct, For a while I thought that any place was a "SAFE PLACE" if I was there. But I've had so many narrow escapes that the odds should have caught up to me a long time ago. Almost died 3 times in 1 day last year up in the Black Mountains in the Mohave desert. Damn buzzards followed me around for 4 hours until I got back to the 4x4 just before dark. Thought for a while they might be correct. I know that you are not right though.

Foolish me.

You sure make a lot of negative assumptions about people. I think that my Mexican friends won't be embarrassed unless I am foolish enough to bring you. Don't think that is going to happen.

No bigotry, prejudice, or malice intended in the above observation...

Pretty much on the button. There is no issues driving Mexico has buses higher than first class driving all major roads. You wont get in though if it's full of seats

You are not wrong -- but this thread is too polluted to comment further...

Any other countries, ethnicities, or races offend and frighten you?

Ya, I'm thinking your better off in your "safe place" spreading your cheerful demeanor with the other like-minded bigots in your circle of doom.

Must totally blow your mind that the largest population of Americans living abroad (by far) is in Mexico.

Ignorance is curable, but stupidity is for life.

LMFAO... I only wish I could be like you!!! A failure in life and an embarrassment to my family. Just because you want to be "manly"... Doesn't make you a "Man".

Now I know who you are. My ex-wife!
I liked you better when you were slurring out "I banged all your friends" prior to passing out & wetting yourself.

I see so many pig-headed posts on this thread, it makes me want a button I can push to bring back marc in exchange for these "clowns." At least he was entertaining in his foolishness and jerkyness.

Keep guessing. I could care less how many Americans live in Mexico. Never even thought about it until about 5 seconds ago, but now that you brought it up, there are a few more Americans that I would like to see move to Mexico, permanently.
