Pretty cool, but that's gonna go for at least 7500 or more.

Yeah. I've been looking at ambulances as well.
I'm still regretting not jumping on that gmc class B for 10k...
I keep on going back and forth on what to buy.

With Daimler selling off their Mercedes truck line, I'd wait on pulling the trigger on a new Sprinter. At least until the dust settles, and the new buyer either keeps or scraps the platform...

I have a class B that I'll probably get $25 or more for when the skoolie is ready so I'd happily put that much into it. It's looking to me now like I'll come out ahead $10 or 15. I live in southern Ontario and there is a major carrier of kids here -Sharp Bus Lines. I went round to their Simcoe yard. They didn't have anything I wanted to consider. The shop manager took my number and called me back a week later saying there were some units I might be interested in at the Brantford yard. In the end it took a couple of calls and $1500 to get a 2007 GMC gimpy shorty. 180+ km and all the service records going back to new. I've put more than that into a lithium array. But I can't see the whole deal coming to more than $10 or 15. $200 for a fridge. Another 2 for a toilet. A bunch for plywood. So I really have a hard time understanding how everyone is having so much trouble finding a unit. I'm tempted to think you all want some kind of guarantee. Again, think "hole in the road". No point in pussy footing around the roulette wheel if you're afraid to lay your money down. If you lose a few grand just walk away wiser. Laugh it off.

While I agree with a lot of what you say I also know that a 14-15 year old bus in Ontario has a very good chance of being severely rotted out and could cost thousands of $$ and a ton of time in rust remediation before it is even close to being worth investing any time or money in to a conversion. I grew up near Toronto on the Bruce peninsula at Sauble beach and it was a yearly chore to help dad spray the whole underside of the car with used motor oil in the hopes of getting a brand new car to survive only a few years. $1500 purchase is just the start of a potentially very costly journey.
Cheers
Oscar

Avoid!!!
In the early 90's, GM came out with a "Lets Pretend It's a Diesel" by taking a gas engine, and re-working it as a diesel. The company I worked for bought and after 3 engine failures scrapped it. If you go GM, make sure it's not one of those unless you only expect 60 K miles out of it (if you take it easy).

That started in the 70's.
My grandad had an old Cadillac diesel. Engine was very weak, very underpowered.

Sorry but I don't remember the details, only that they self destructed because the gas blocks couldn't take the compression.
