Brand new to school bus ownership-HELP!

Hi all,

We just took delivery of a 2004 33 seat 8 window 3800 International V8 diesel. It has approx 173k miles. It has an electronic/air/neumatic front door, which is broken, so we have to bungee cord it until we can figure out what to do. Our big immediate question is how to get the key out without a huge alarm blaring? We have tried turning off everything we can see or find like lights, etc, but it sounds like a car alarm going off if we try to remove the key. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Melissa

Sounds like a child minder/child check system of some kind. Couldn't begin to tell you which kind or how to shut the bloody thing off. I'm sure another member can help with it as they wake up.

Is there a push button at the back of the bus above either side of the rear seats? If so, put the key in the accessory position, push the button, then you *should* be able to remove the key. If that doesn't work, put the key in the "on" position without starting the bus and do the same. See if that works.

Thanks for the help! We figured out that it is actually related to the broken front door. If someone holds it closed from the outside we can remove the key with no alarm. If they let go of the doors, they will pop open and the alarm will go off and we have to shove they key back in. Most likely an anti theft alarm. We're going to have to rig something up on the door to keep it shut anyways, this just makes it a bigger priority.
