Carpenter noises

When I put the key in the "ignition" of my bus, all sorts of electrical whining and motors start up. I can't fathom it as all my switches are off and nothing should be happening. Any ideas?

Re: Carpenter noises

If you have air brakes it's probably low air warnings, they are supposed to be loud and annoying.

Re: Carpenter noises

No. I don't have air brakes. It's more of a mechanical chugging as if there's some electric motor doing something. No idea what it could be unless its an electric fuel injector.

Re: Carpenter noises

Does is go away once its running?
Mine had a few different buzzers but I've already disconnected two.
Could be the hydraulic booster?? Or a brake warning of some sort...
There are a ton of noisy things in buses you just have to eliminate things one at a time till you're happy.
Best of luck!

Re: Carpenter noises

If you do not have air brakes, there may be an electric vacuum pump for safety to provide back-up vacuum to the power brake booster.

Re: Carpenter noises

I'll try to do a video tomorrow. I'm visiting my bus for the weekend (its parked on my girlfriends land). I'm going to be spending a while painting the roof and popping rivets into screwholes some idiot drilled in the roof for an awning that had fallen apart. As the rivets will be under no stress due to them being through a hole in a single layer of metal, I'll use ordinary pop rivets and epoxy glue to seal them.
