Not yet, but when the bus is ready I have 3 that need to get used to it. Right now the 3 keep me from more than week trip before having to come home to take care of them

When I was a kid we would take the cat camping for a couple weeks every year. It went pretty well mostly. There was a couple times when the cat wouldn’t come back and we would have to wait around until the cat decided to come back

That's my concern as I've been through that before. When we moved from Ca. to Ct. in 61 we let the cat out to do her business while we refueled. She didn't return and after about an hour Dad told the station attendant that if the cat came back, to call my aunt who would come for her. Left a bunch of food and went on our way. She did show up later and made it to anuties house where Dad picked her up 6 months later on abusiness trip, after she had 2 litters of kittens. We had her for 21 years, long story of how she passed.

Ours will do just fine, the easy way or the hard way.
They DO NOT go outside
If they get used to the bus then they can have the run of the place....the easy way
If they don't and become a problem, they'll just be caged in the back until we stop.... the hard way.
I suspect they'll be just fine as we've been taking them on trips in the fiver and while they're not happy, they've located "their places" during driving and with each trip they come out a little quicker than the last.

That is what I'm hoping, that they will get used to it.
Thanks everyone who replied!

We thought A TON about assimilating our adult cat when the time came to move into the bus.
Ours has loved it and done just fine after 1 1/2 years. We brought her (JuneBug) into the bus frequently at different stages as we were building like when we first sealed and painted the metal floor, once we had subfloor in, etc. which seemed to help the overall transition so it wasn’t sudden once we decided to move in full time. She really loves all the windows and the little nooks and platforms she can hang out on. Especially loves to lounge in the drivers seat when the sun is out and we still have our original doors which she loves to peer out of from the bottom step.
We also have a small dog and have dedicated the entire back “garage” as the cats domain setup with a baby gate, her food/water elevated, and her covered litter box next to the wall with a small 12v exhaust fan we installed (one of the best and smartest things ever, litter smell has never been an issue and our bedroom is literally on the other side of the partition from her space).
We frequently tape a rectangular scratching pad to the back door for her to use as well as multiple other options on the living room. We let her jump on just about everything except for things she is “too big” to be on like small shelves because we realize we hav whiten her much less space from the house we had her in, plus she can get to many places the dog cannot jump onto so it gives her a safety form him.
However, she does not like to drive in the bus and has never liked being in a car. When we travel with a separate vehicle following we will put her in a crate and inside the car because it quieter. But she meows more than any other cat I’ve had so for long trips or solo trips where we only have the bus as transportation then she is inside the crate, underneath the bed in the rear of the bus. Anytime we stop for gas we go back there and talk to her and give her treats and water.
Once we are in a new location she takes about an hour or so to venture out and get comfortable again. Buggo always enjoys seeing new things and watching the people walk by when we are at campgrounds or at the beach. She specifically likes to “chirp” and talk back to the birds

I have 2 cats, ages 8 and 9. Some trips I use my car. The cats travel in carriers and I stop about every 2 hours, let them out of the carriers to run around in the car, use the litter box, eat and drink. I make sure they have toys and snacks. Some trips I use my shuttle bus. They still travel in their carriers. I still stop at least every 2 hours. I still make sure they have toys and snacks and can look out the windows while we are stopped. I have different surfaces of different heights so they can move around in the bus. My bed is at the back window. They like hanging out there.

Trackers
I would recommend a Bluetooth or GPS tracking collar for animals if you're going to take them on the road.

I'm building at a friend's yard/storage lot, and he has a very curious kitten. I was looking for him as I pulled in the other day and didn't see him till I was about to board and start the bus!! Now I have to check the engine each time to make sure the cat isn't on the Cat when I start her up!!
I put kitty onboard while moving the bus, to make sure he didn't get squashed. He DID NOT enjoy the 2 minute ride!! He was racing around, climbing up the seats, and yowling up a storm!! I guess he won't be a road trip kitty!!

We have taken our cats in the "old Crown" several times on trips of several days in length. Taz our male would spend most of the day under the covers of our bed, but would come out at night and enjoy the trip and our company. Princess our female enjoyed the trip all day and night. We did not let them out of the bus until we got home. Both Princess and Taz have since passed away and now we have Patches, who hates being in a carrier. I can't say how she will respond to being loose in the bus, but I think she will probably hide but will use her cat box and eat OK. I think after the first day/night she will be OK since our scent will be there and we will be there.

2 Cats 8 Months
We have been full-time in our skoolie for 8 months now. We have 2 cats (8 & 9 yrs) and 1 dog (5 yrs). The dog could care less, he's just happy to be here. The older cat (Clef) finds his place on the couch during traveling and sleeps. The other (Alastaire) finds his spot under the bed when traveling and will surface when the bus is off. When planted, it's just home as usual.
They got adjusted really quickly (about 2-3 weeks).

I don't have a cat. I have an 18lb pup that absolutely hates my bus. It doesn't matter if the engine is running or not, if we are moving or not, she just doesn't like it for some weird reason.
Could be that her previous owner use to keep her locked in their RV while at horse shows?
Yet, when I take her to my work (school bus driver), she'll jump into any of the buses happy as can be.
I'm starting to take her on short jaunts, always someplace that she can get out and have fun. I've actually seen signs of her getting a bit more relaxed.
She's also like a cat, as she'll wander off and not come back unless she wants to. Arrrg!
