Changing location of emergency exit windows

Does anyone know if you can swap the location for the emergency exit window with another window (same size, but not emergency exit)? This would be for a 1998 RE Bluebird. I've heard of folks removing them, or replacing them, but not swapping their locations.

Our EE window is in a terrible location, and I basically want to switch it with the window directly behind it. Is there internal wiring that needs to be moved, and would it be possible to shift this wiring 2 feet back?

Sorry in advance if this has already been posted - I didn't find anything with a search.

If it fits the opening then go for it. If there's a safety switch, remove it or wire it back.

Yeah, that's kind of what we figured. Or, we'll just disconnect the wiring altogether, since we don't need it for its originally intended purpose (safety interlock to keep bus from starting if triggered).

Thanks!!

Not all window openings are the same width.

You can swap emergency exit windows to any other window opening as long as the width is the same.

In regards to the safety buzzers on emergency exits, they are there to alert the driver when a kid opens one of them while the bus is loaded. Most of them are not interlocks that prevent from starting or releasing the parking brake. The buzzers that are also wired into safety interlocks are on locks that keep one from opening the emergency doors or exits. You will not need any of the buzzers or interlocks. Just be careful as you remove them that you disable them in a way in which you will be able to start the bus, put it in gear, and release the parking brake.

I was able to move the EE windows without any issues. The window openings on my bus are all the same.

Same here, and I have your bigger brother, Jester. It might require a little finagling to get the frames to fit.
