There are people who can be reasoned with and there are people who cannot be reasoned with. That's their choice. I hear your frustration, I strongly, strongly suggest moving on.
I just found out that my favorite breakfast place is closed indefinitely, not even offering takeout =(. All locations. I was hoping for something to cheer me up a little and some energy to get going for the day...
More than that I hope those folks are doing okay. I was a regular until this all hit.

Sorry native for contributing to a derail, but what was said I felt needed addressed. Americans are more alike then they aren't, I don't know why it's such a pride thing to identify by who one voted for in the last election. You meet some really great people when you don't label and chastise those on the other side.

We're seeing a lot more unity in this thread than I've seen in ANY conversation like this ANYWHERE on the web.

You're right, and this site as a whole has really been great with it the last few years. And I remember the times when it wasn't, thankfully those users aren't around anymore.
I used to like Twitter for the instant availability for local news from all over the world. But that's turned into such a cesspool of volatility. Facebook seems to slowly be devolving to that as well.
I don't know what it is with the way some people act when talking with strangers over the internet. I guess because they can get away with it scot free they feel it's acceptable.
Luckily, this place has never given me that vibe. I mean we're on a global forum for school bus conversions. It's inevitable that all walks of life and positions on the spectrum will be present here.
Most people in real life wouldn't even think about showing prejudice against someone based off ethnicity, religion, or gender, why would someone feel it's permissible with politics? I don't get it.

The fact we have IRL get-togethers fairly regularly makes us a bit closer than most forums. And a lot of us know we'll run into one another eventually!

I certainly hope the "pub in a bus" will make a cameo at one of these gatherings!

Folks say things online that they would never say in person for the same reason road rage is a thing, but pedestrian rage is not.

I think that is because politics is inherently adversarial, and I also think that there are times that adversarial nature comes more to the forefront than other times. In my mind that is one of the drawbacks to having a political system that effectively has only 2 parties.
Personally, I think Bernie should run as an Independent so we can all see what happens to a defacto 2 party system in a crisis.

I just got a whole box of nitrile gloves for $17. Well I just PAID for it anyhow. Says guaranteed to be here by the 18th.
I figured they're be a lot more $.
I'll have about 200 pair once they get here. I'm relieved to know these things are available.

I'm not using gloves. I lucked onto some one quart bottles of 70 percent rubbing alcohol. After I've had to go out, which is rare, I just wash my hands with a bit of it. And I have made remarkable progress toward learning not to touch my face.
But this post about gloves, got me thinking about masks, so I looked on Amazon and found what I expected to find, just a very few, very expensive offers.
But as I looked further down the search results I found something very interesting and I wonder if anyone has any direct, personal experience with meltblown non-woven material. I had never heard of it before until just a few minutes ago, but it's supposed to have a filtering efficiency of greater than 95 percent, just like the medical masks. It's also cheap and nearly 7 inches wide.

I'm multi-stepping it. I use gloves carefully, then use hand sanitizer when I take them off. As soon as I'm in the house I immediately wash them in the nearest sink. I go in and out of compulsive handwashing phases since I was about 6 or 8 years of age.
We got lucky. My hoarded bus supplies included a nearly whole box of the top of the line 3m multi ply kind. And Roxy got a whole box of the loop style surgical masks from her boss.
We don't go in public much so what we have will go a LONG way.

I'm a bit conflicted on the governments reactions...but social distancing, frequent hand washings and frequent dis-infecting commonly touched surfaces doesn't seem to be asking too much. I did get a bit miffed when I drove by the local country club and saw plenty of golfers out....makes closing state parks and camp grounds seem arbitrary. Especially since all my campground sites except 1, are rented on a annual basis to people who live in the Akron area.

Can I get more information on your campground? I’m from Akron too and you have one spot left.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) and its effects on Skoolies
This virus has me thinking about a lot of stuff. Will there ever be anymore concerts? I’m not a concert every weekend guy but I do enjoy a jimmy buffett concert that happens to fall on a Saturdays when I can. But seriously, what about any forum that has many people attend? Sports, movies, flea markets, county fairs, weekend festivals, etc... guessing it’s a couple years at least.

I’m not advocating this as a medical device in any way but I manufactured my own masks. Sew a double sided fabric mask with ties and a slot for replacement filter fabric. 3M 1900 healthy living series furnace filter is bacterial and viral rated, one filter gives you over a meter of filter material for your washable mask. If you don’t have a sewing machine you can use a product called Sew Right, it’s an adhesive in a tube for fabric.

Or someone like me who can't sew anything much could use a T-shirt sleeve like Johnny Mullet showed in his video earlier in this thread to hold the filter material in place.

Hopefully Jimmy is sequestered somewhere. South Fl isn't a great place to be right now and he's 73.

really people?
you can go through all the theories you want and expect what you want ?
little late to plan or prepare?
i still work cause i am essential govt personelle to keep several bases working and there mandate is a cloth face covering.
lack of better words?
cut the sleeve off of a t-shirt.
cloth covering is fine
base order says it needs to cover from nose to chin.
cover your face
aint gonna get into the politics but every american regardless of race religion or politics should be practicing the social distancing and covering there face
just now catching up wiith this thread and just now catching up and have within the last 14 days flown from nc to texas and drove back in a rental?
still dont have anything but seasonal NC allergies after cutting grass this morning?
everyone do there due diligence to protect thereselves and we will get through this
