Keep in mind that there are numerous bugs that we can catch that cause a fever. The odds are in your favor.

I know that you and I may see some things differently..... I wish you both the best outcome and will keep you in my prayers.

I smoke heavily. She smokes a bit of pot but that's all.

We CANNOT find any sort of accurate thermometers.
We've tried 3 now and all give wildly varying readings from 97-101.7 that I can't tell much from them. Don't trust thermometers!

I'm having so much anxiety its hard to tell up from down.

Thanks man. Just ordered some supplies from Publix. They're delivering tomorrow.

Why would the thermometer read 97.6 one time then twenty secs later read 100.5??? Both the ones we've tried today have done that. One is an oral and one is a scan the forehead type. Both read as wildly varying as each other.

yeash thermometers!!! I have same issue.. I recently had influenza. and my supposedly good thermometer (used orally with a thermometer liner). would say anything from 97.2 to 99.8. I tired all different ways and it varies all over the place,, I wish I still had my old glass mercury one that always seemed like it reflected a reading like I was feeling..

Oral thermometers are pretty inaccurate but they're more pleasant than the other kind. Anyway if you know for sure you've got a fever you should contact your local health department and ask them what your next steps should be.

Yeah, I think we might have the very last glass mercury thermometer in the country, somehow even with raising 3 boys we've been able to keep it from breaking. We've never had consistent results with electronic thermometers.

The reality is that most of us are going to eventually be infected by the coronavirus. If you are having cold or flu symptoms assume that you have it. Stay calm and stay home. Have healthy friends or family pick up medicines and groceries for you.

Treat this as any other cold/flu. Drink lots of fluids and eat fruits/veggies high in vitamin C, D and zinc. Use cold cough medicine/decongestants as necessary to be comfortable. Avoid ibuprofen. Get plenty of rest, read a book or watch a movie. Try not to fixate on the news right now it is all gloom and doom and will likely get worse. Read up on what to do / not to do if you are sick.

Remeber currently only the symptoms of coronavirus can be treated, not the virus itself. If your symptoms are mild don't immediately seek a test. It could just as likely be the regular cold or flu. Going out to take the test increases the chances of picking up some other bug on top of what you have or sharing yours unnecessarily.

If symptoms are severe. Severe cough, congestion, or difficulty breathing seek medical attention immediately. At that point it would be more important to get a chest x-ray than the coronavirus test as the x-ray will indicate what treatment is needed.

Everyone try to stay calm and skoolie on.

I just CAN'T get any kind of baseline from these. It sure sucks. All I need is real scientifically accurate thermometer and I'll quit panicking so much. This is hell not knowing.
I don't do well with anxiety as many of you know. This is the worst I've had it in many years.

Having two young kids we have been through several thermometers. The best we found for consistent readings (other than rectal) is the in the ear type. Keep in mind unless your temp is getting to 101+ it's not that serious. Also your temp can fluctuate with physical activity and mood. Also if you have taken either ibuprofen or acetaminophen your fever will go down.

Do you have any other symptoms than your temperatures?

With this anxiety I can't tell if my throat is sore from being a smoker or what. Also I'm sensitive to pollen and our neighbor doesn't mow, so the little yellow weeds I'm allergic to are in full bloom five feet away.
My face and head feel HOT, my hand and feet are sweating profusely. My nose has a funny feeling at times.

I don't think ANYONE on here or IRL understand the kind of anxiety I'm talking about.
It literally feels like the air I'm breathing is MADE of pure anxiety.

Charlie, we are both pulling and praying for you and Roxy!

Having had contact with a known COVID-19 case, y'all are doing what you can and should do. Temperature measurements do fluxuate. You should know by how you feel. You KNOW how a fever feels.

Suggestion: Get a piece of paper and record each of your temperatures every 15 minutes. Examine the list of temperatures and see how they change over the course of the days and within a day. You will be able to see a general climb of temperature if you really do have a fever.

Banman nailed it, for sure.

Another suggestion for you ... you might ask him to direct his frustrations into helping others ... like he and his friends volunteering to deliver food to those that can not get out of the house. They would be doing good for society AND getting out.

A few days ago I went through a total panic where I thought I was coming down with it and I self-quarantined myself in the upstairs of the house I share with my parents. Ate dinner on a little TV table 30 feet from them. Constant fear and doom and thinking I'd killed my parents with my stupidity, whatever that was. It was just pollen, gives me sniffles and a little tickle in my throat every spring.

This is good advice. I seriously wonder what good a test does if you self quarantine yourself for two weeks and by then the flu will be gone. As far as I know if the test shows positive you would do the same thing anyway. And if it moves to your chest and you can’t breathe then of course get medical attention.
