the reality of it all is even though mopst of us in the thread promote mask wearing, the precedent being set is possibly a dangerous one unless its done right.. could a muslim mayor get elected to a city and require all women to wear a berka? stating the mask requirement from the years prior? common sense says no because it was a public health emergency when masks were required.. but in the world of courts, law, and litigation case and use history seems to be used alot in decision making..
the precedent needs to be set without an indefinite end.. so a mask mandate needs a very definite end.. ie 2 weeks or a month of Covid numbers below a set threshold.. the mandates being pushed out everywhere have open-ends which is where future precedent for any type of mandate in the future..
unfortunately common sense is not used in the word of lawyers, law, and litigation..
common sense says you wouldnt even need a mandate as people would just mask up inside buildings and people wouldnt crowd into bars or have massive house parties or engage in church choirs..

Mask mandates help greatly. Can't tell you how many times I've been told "I'd wear one if they said to but they said we don't have to". Or "they're sending so many mixed messages about masks".

I will start this by saying, yes I wear a mask everywhere I go. Which is really the grocery store, gas station and 3 trips to a restaurant in the past 5 months. I wash my hands regularly, use hand sanitizer and avoid crowds. But I still came down with a massive cold and chest congestion. This makes me wonder if they are really all that effective.

If you weren't tested then there's no way to say anything definitive.
Lots of mask wearing folks still get covid. Front line workers for example.
None of us think masks are a magic bullet. But its a bullet. Any bullet helps in an emergency.

There's a lot of science behind the idea of how much exposure you have dictating how sick you get...
So wearing a mask reduced how sick you got...

People have to wear clothes, going naked in public is not allowed. Where are all the nude protesters fighting for their freedom to not wear clothes? Government can't FORCE them to wear clothes..can they?
No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service?
I sortof get the Wear a Helmet when riding a motorcycle opposition, but its the law, even though you are only killing yourself.

You know, it's really not Muslims I'm afraid of using existing precedents to impose unreasonable and unconstitutional religious based restrictions on women in this country...

Starting to get some rain from this storm down here.
Covid and tropical storm isn't the best combo. But at least we didn't have to go out for supplies. We're as stocked up as we can get.
Hope everyone's safe and healthy out there.

That's hilarious, accurate, and not appropriate for this thread. Remember, no politics.

Florida reported just 62 deaths today! I guess their "just stop counting" approach to COVID is making for a healthier population!

Good news, Florida! Coronavirus is over! I think the credit definitely lies with good leadership in getting you through this crisis, particularly the "stop counting" strategy.

Florida finally got good news in its fight against the coronavirus Sunday when the number of new cases dipped to a one-month low, the rapid rise in deaths eased and the percent of tests coming back positive fell below 10 percent for the first time in 40 days

Yeah! Covid is almost over now and that evil, powerful hurricane skipped right over us. We maybe got 20 minutes of rain yesterday.

We're getting hit at this moment. It's 3:00PM, but it's as dark as 9:30PM. About to dump rain. Should be over in 3 hours, according to radar
