Same here in Ohio. 4 weeks ago we had 1500 cases a day. Today we had 8800. City Hospitals are full and routing people to rural hospitals. We have a 10pm curfew and yesterday said to stay home when possible.

Not intending to get political in any way with my $0.02 here, seriously.
I hope the vaccine becomes available soon and folks trust it enough to get immunized, but also hope Mr. Biden doesn't shut down the country if/when he assumes the position...

they've been pretty clear they don't intend to do any nationwide shutdown and have outlined how to avoid that.
My mom's getting the moderna vaccine in december supposedly. I'll take one as soon as possible. Sign me right up!

Our governor is 100% in the "business as usual, nothing's wrong" camp. Its pathetic and scary to watch this trainwreck.

cases are definitely bad here in ohio.. my DEV bus is proving exctremely useful.. i absolutely dont do dine-in at all anymore.. I was doing it only if a place was large and dead.. I dont however stay home and wont.. home alone is depressing and would result in more damage to myself than being out.. but most of my time is spent away from people hanging in my bus getting work done..
I have seen a little panic buying but I had anticipated this would all come back so over the summer I slowly stocked up on paper goods and cleaners and even some meat.. although theres no talk of shutting carry-out down so i'll still eat carry-out / curbside / drive thru ..
the dumb governor here set a curfew which is not keeping people home, its causing people to all crowd into the same places in less hours.. if spreading out ios the way to curb the virus then encouraging going back to 24 hour culture seems it would be the safest way.. i understand that he is strying to curb crowded bars however the early times make the restaraunt / bars more crowded..
someone smarter than me please help me understand how a curfew will help things out as opposed to just slam everyone together in less hours (which is what im observing)..

They should just curfew bars, not the grocery store and drive-thru.

What’s happening to the renters and landlords during this pandemic? Is that going to implode next?

They did that first . And same result. Everybody crowds in during less hours.. I say they should be encouraging 24 hour society to return if distancing and spreading out it are truly the desired outcome here.
Not sure what smart heads create this stuff.
Landlord tenant is bad. Like I may have mentioned before friend of mine owns a 4 unit building. 2 of his tenants lost their jobs, they didn’t even attempt to pay even when the extra 600 bucks was in UE. Other 2 tenants (who still work)just quit paying after a couple months because they felt it wasn’t fair they should pay rent when the other 2 aren’t. He can’t evict any of them but still has to keep the building up and pay his property taxes. No one will pay all of their back rent.. should the landlords just be expected to eat it? Will Biden release a stimulus required for rent and utilities? Or can people still screw their landlord and buy new furniture and TVs?..

OK, just close bars. Nothing works better than asking drunk people to follow rules and be safe.

of course the latest data coming out says parties at hoime are the biggest spreaders.. and its a really slippery slope that I would be 100% against which would be going house to house looking for parties.. thats a right im not willing to give up no how..
simply put people are tired of being at home.. they put up with it for awhile but since no real progress was made they feel it was in vain..
work-from home, eat at home, play at home, stay alone.. only so much of that most people can take (i realize a good bit of this crowd is different as many here prefer solitude) but most of society isnt capable of being in solitude forever.. and im one of them.. while I do what i can to be safe, staying at homne "hunkered down" would ruin me mentally.. to the point of suicide.. and I know it.. so I go out in my bus, and get my take-out food.. and see a friend or two now and then..
also at some point the media overload creates a cry-wolf situation.. anyone educated knows the virus is dangerous, however for most its not a death sentence so after awhile it becomes a "certain mental breakdown fron loneliness or go to a party and maybe catch a virus that may cause harm"..
all of this results in a virus spike like we havent seen, restrictions or closed-bars or not.. the lockdowns flattened the curve the first-time because everyone bought in.. to some it was even welcomed.. to stay home from school or work from home like the dreamed of doing for years, so it became an adventure of sorts for many .. cook on the grill and take walks around the neighborhood during the day, answer work calls with the dog by your side, clean out the basement, clean out the garage, paint the master bedroom.. we all saw the home depot and amazon trucks delivering project-after-project to peoples homes..
now its different.. there is nothing new to entice people to stay home.. police departments reporting huge rises in domestic calls now that the weather is cooling off up north... and kids, parents, and spouses are forced to spend 100% of their time together .. thus people are going out.. doing more dangerous activites that back in march or april they wouldnt have thought of doing.. football parties and sunday dinners with the extended.. friends over for beers, etc..

Personal responsibility. That is the key to this whole problem. Just like our skoolies we the driver and the person that did the conversion are responsible for our safety. That means we need to ask a lot of questions, such as, if the masks work then why are we social distancing, closing businesses, schools and churches? I suspect that they don't work real well otherwise our medical professionals would not be catching this virus in such large numbers. They also have the very best masks n-95 and other PPE and training that you can get. You have to think of the mask as a filter we use on our buses, what is the micron rating of the filter/mask and the size of the particle we are trying to stop. How tight does it fit? If we install a new air filter we make sure that the rubber hoses are tight to the filter and intake pipe so that air can not bypass the filter. This is the same as the mask. How tight does it fit your face? Facial hair is a no go. Around the nose bridge there are gaps. We have been told not to use n-95 masks so as not to use up all the medical communities masks. The CDC does not want the medical professionals to use substandard masks, but it is fine for you and I to use them. Go figure. Some Governors like our dim wit here in New Mexico even recommended 2 layers of cloth. The micron rating on this is about a thousand times larger than the virus. All this does is give us a false sense of safety. And this is irresponsible. Just to give some perspective the covid particle size is about .1 micron but when floating in air it is usually attached to human breath and is about 1 micron in size. The specs on n-95 masks stop 95% of 3 micron particles. Where does that leave us? We all have to make our own informed decisions. Stay safe and well everyone.

The fact we're still debating on the merits of masking up is a sad example of how far we have to go in this BS pandemic fight. Thankfully the vaccines are coming soon, but then there's getting these "patriots" to take the vaccine.

I have a neighbor that is a nurse and if you look at the picture in the article referenced that is how they are all dressed up with the best PPE as per OSHA standards, and they are still getting it. That means that most masks used by the public are not going to help you very much. I am NOT trying to persuade anyone from wearing a mask, just simply trying to point out that if you think that these masks are going to protect you you may be disappointed. The masks remind me of the filters on the cigarettes again pushed by the government to make smoking safer. Didn't work out so well. And you are right some people are NOT going to take the vaccine when it becomes available. But does it matter? If you take it you are safe. Right? What about the rapid tests? What is their failure rate? How many false positives and false negatives do they create? This is very important and is just glossed over by the MSM. Could it be that the asymptomatic covid cases are just false positives? If these tests aren't accurate then we are looking at junk data and making major decisions on the basis of it. Stay safe and well my friends.

I am in the front line worker group designated by our state. I am suppose to be in the first group getting the vaccine. I have been asked by my employer if I am willing to take the vaccine. I am not. It has nothing to do with thinking Covid is fake. It has everything to do with there being ZERO long term results of the drug. How many lawyer adds do we already watch every day about class action lawsuits from the long term effects of drugs that HAVE HAD the long term testing? Billions of dollars have been paid out in these types of claims. My mom has collected over $750K in one of these class action suits, and it wasn't even for a drug, it was a medical device. There is absolutely no way I am going to allow a drug with no long term results to be injected into my body with the hope that it may work. They can really only guess at the effectiveness of the vaccine since they still do not understand this virus.
If you are comfortable taking on the completely unknown, more power to you. I'll take my chances.
On the mask side of the argument....
If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Wearing a mask is not going to adversely effect my life in any way whatsoever. Wearing a mask may just save my life. I wear it without complaining. Wearing a mask is definitely a risk I am willing to take with my life since the side effects of it not working are nill.

Here is the article I wanted to link earlier but could not find it. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/29/h...s-testing.html
After I read it I had a better sense of what is going on. This is not as bad as we are being led to believe. This might explain why when the cameras aren't rolling many of our “leaders” don't wear their masks and go out to eat and have large family gatherings. Remember this is from the NY Times not what I would consider a patriot/right wing organ. Many are beginning to show signs of covid fatigue from the constant doom and gloom peddlers. We really don't need that. We need honest data to make our personal choices. Household violence, over drinking and suicides are all on the rise. Students are failing their classes and not getting the education they deserve, and will pay for it later in life. All of the small business failures due to lock downs may not seem to affect you now, but if the economy goes south it can tank our retirement systems and everything we rely on. Right now I can fill my bus cheaper than I have in years but I have a lot of neighbors that are unemployed. Stay safe and well my friends.
