According to the manufacturer they are intended to be mounted only when stationary and removed for travel, and the bracket they supply works that way. However, they're constantly in my way inside the bus and I need my precious space for other things, so I would like to figure out how to permanently attach them. I could just lock them onto the mounting bar but I think they'd be too heavy and bounce around, so I guess I'd want to find a way to secure them higher up, sort of roll them up onto the back door, and then just let them down when I arrive. Is anybody doing this currently, and if so, how are you securing them?

Here's a link to the steps, which i definitely recommend.
