I learned something new the other day. I started playing with my 2 meter handheld radio the other day, and seem to have lost my charger. I was trying to find what voltage ni-cad batteries should be charged at when i stumbled upon something spectacular.
A dewalt battery charger works just fine to charge nearly any ni-cad battery, or battery pack. They work from 1.2 volts to 18 volts and there's no modification required. Just use a little caution because the 12 V+ wire is bonded to the 120 volt hot wire.
They're a really fast charger for a 9.6 volt pack of AA ni-cads! The charger automatically stops charging when the pack gets full. (actually it still puts a tiny bit of current in the battery so if you leave it there for months it will not discharge)
Just thought i'd pass this along. It's not a giant leap, don't know why this never occurred to me before....I love the internet! .
