Feedback please on MCO Coach Bus with Detroit Diesel v92

hello - I am interested in purchasing a MCO coach bus that has a Detroit Diesel V92 -2 stroke engine. Can anyone help me decipher the good from the bad about this engine? Thanks in advance

Coachwork: Crown, integral. (With 2kW of tiltable solar)
Chassis: Crown Supercoach II (rear engine)
Engine: Detroit 6V92TAC, DDEC 2, Jake brake, Allison HT740
Rated Cap: 37,400 lbs GVWR
Easy.
A) Don't lug it.
B) Don't overheat it.
C) Use only CF2-rated straight 40-weight oil in it.

Do that, and it could outlast you. Don't do that, and it will go bad on you in a hurry. Detroits are good engines, but they need to be driven correctly.

Incidentally, it's MCI - Motor Coach Industries. What is it, an MC9, or something older? Who owned it last? (If it's a church, be careful, very very careful.) You need to do your research first, and inspect it thoroughly.

Ditto all that. 8V92 is a great power plant but they are SUPER sensitive to over heating--and they leak oil (at least mine did) almost as bad as an old Jag. If you are a gear head like me, that motor is the cat's meow. Jack

I put 250k miles on my last 8v71 and it still ran like a champ when I sold it.

Take the oil recommendations VERY SERIOUSLY!!!! Low ash straight 40wt. If you can find Delo 100 40wt that is the prefered. NOT Delo 400!!

MCI builds a fine coach. I would not hesitate to buy one if the condition and price were right.
