That took the time to read through my little episode (s) on my first ride.
More to come! Moving the bus to it's permanent parking/build spot this weekend, using it to move all the stuff I have in two storage units. Once all that malarky is done the floor work will begin!

So this is one of the things I’m still trying to figure a good solution for. Do I need to drain the tank to get rid of the old jelled fuel? Does the kerosene help with the jelled fuel? Any other things I could remedy the jelled fuel with?

I didn't see the part about the jelled fuel. I'm not sure what you mean by that but... I was told that kerosene is a much more refined diesel so it can fight thru the gunk and get to the engine. I'd certainly try that or seafoam plus the new filter before I went thru the headache of getting the fuel out...maybe if you have a siphon long enough to get down to your tank, see how much will come out and what condition it's actually in? Less junk fuel to dilute the good stuff also. Hope it works out but these kinds of things make great stories later down the road ;)

Look at the bottom of the tank. There should be a drain plug. Put a 5 gallon bucket under the plug, remove the plug, and let a few gallons drain out. Pour some into a clear container and let it settle. This will give you a look at the worst of what is in your tank. Take pictures and post them.

Excellent story, Smitty! I was on the edge of my seat! And glad, since it's more than just a story, that it had a happy ending! That brings back memories from our trip home from auction, which was a similarly stress-inducting affair. But that just makes it more of a relief - and a better tale to tell - when you manage to get 'er home.

That sounds like a good plan right there. I'm going to purchase a large oil drain pan, maybe that will work if I need to drain it. It'll be a week or two before I have a chance to mess with the fuel issue, but when I do I'll definitely snap a couple shots.
