Getting a bus shipped
So I was trying to stay local but I won’t be able to find what I want here in the rust belt without, we’ll, rust. So now I’m looking at two options, 1- find a bus and have it shipped home or 2 - drive it home (less of an option as I have a new born and a two year old)
Anyone have experience with this sort of thing? I saw a 99 with a 7.3 that I like but they want $10k!

you'll pay a LOT more to ship a bus.. you can get an idea from U-ship or call some heavy duty shipping companies but $6 - $10 a mile isnt uncommon right now.. now if you'd have wanted this in april - july of last year? you could pretty much have paid a little more than fuel and expenses and got one shipped..

Knowing where you are located and where the bus you're buying is located might help. This is a pretty good community and there are a few folks here often willing to drive away or coordinate with you.

I was thinking it would be very expensive to ship.
I’m in NJ and I would be fine with a day or two drive myself if the bus was in the shape to make a 600+ mile trip. I would love to get a California bus or similar but between a possible unknown condition and what I would have to do for insurance/title it’s overwhelming to say the least.

You pay a guy to drive it.
Ideally one experienced in handling both buses and diesel breakdowns.
Per mile + expenses if all goes well + per diem extra if breakdown occurs.
Start local, CL FB.
And ideally a shop near the auction site to safety pre-check, replace actually broken bits. . .

We would like to find a mid size bus and diesel. That’s it really. We have legnth contraints on our site where it wil be parked when not driving around. Trying to stay away from cut out can styles in hopes for a little extra headroom as well as easier acces to the motor etc. I don’t mind the vt365 as I can do studs, egr etc myself. Would love a 7.3 lol.

Didn’t think of a shop checking it out first. Very good idea 👍

I have one available in GA if you're interested.
'01 IH/BlueBird "6 Window" with wheelchair lift, 7.3 engine with ~216K (verified on ECM), 5-speed manual transmission. Most demo done, floor 1/2 "ospho'd" (with no major rust), partly primed and carpeted. Air-ride, air-brakes. Asking $7500 (delivery can be negotiated).

Now here is something not sure I've seen before. You get a 'roof deck' already,
the 7.3 diesel in Central NJ 98 e350.
Paying to have one transported is going to double the cost.
Best to find something local and not rusted.

Haha that’s fun looking. I’ve been searching local on fb and cl but it’s the rust thing that’s killing me up here.
