Glue on the metal floor

Hi all. Almost done angle grinding rust spots on the metal floor. There are still patches of glue residue on the metal that I’m having a heck of a time removing. I’ve seen posts about this but didn’t really see an answer.

Can I leave a little glue residue on the floor and move on to etch and prep and oil based rustoleum paint? Will the etch and prep cut through the residue? Or do I need to scrape and grind all the glue spots first? Should I try some goo gone or something ?

Put a wire brush on the angle grinder and it should come right up. I'm not sure about the etch affecting it but the idea is to protect the floor. If the glue is still there after etch and still stuck, it won't matter if paint does or doesn't stick to it as it will continue to protect the floor.

Now if you're OCD AT ALL grind or brush it off or it will bug you for as long as you own the rig.....and probably even after you sell it. LOL

Haha you’re right about that!! I have tried the wire brush and it is more effective but still leaves a slight smear on the metal. I’m with you though… if it’s there, and rustoleum is over the top, it’s like and extra layer of rust protection. Thanks for your help! I’m going to move forward with etch and prep tomorrow!

Thanks again!
