Good Asking Price?

Hey everybody. Newbies here trying to buy a bus.

Found a very clean, no rust at all, 1997 International 3800. Under 100,000 miles, T444E, AT545, airbrakes. --- $4,800 is as low as he'll go to sell it.

Worth a look?

Thanks for any input!!

sounds a bit high but condition and location mean a lot. can that mileage be verified? almost every old bus has had its gauges changed out at least once.

Also how do you plan to use it? T444 / AT545 is about the least desirable combination for anyone planning to drive much, climb, or tow. It's far more important to begin with the right platform and powertrain for your ambitions.

I hear you. We plan to convert it to live in it full time while driving and exploring anywhere a road can take us.

I think we'll take all of the advice we've seen on this site and keep holding out for something that would suit our plans a little better.

I'd at least go look at it if it's not across the country. But I'd tell them to get their glasses checked, because the bus is painted yellow, not gold plated. They're dreaming. No way I'd pay that much for an AT545. But if you're not going to be highway cruising or traveling cross country full time with it, might be OK. If it's really that clean, and he can prove there's absolutely right nothing wrong with it, I might go 3500. Seems like everybody with a mechanical non MaxxForce engine suddenly thinks they've got a gold mine.
