thats crazy to have a bad clutch and TO at 67k.. even with a lot of in town driving the clutch should last 100k.. Heck I ROMPED on the clutches in my Jeep wranglers over the years wheeling in areas where sometmes you had to slip the clutch a bit and they lasted longer than that..

thats a really nice car too.. subaru used to be the Go-To if you wanted something that would run forever..

Of all the cars I've had with manual transmissions this is only the 3rd clutch I've ever had go out.
This Subaru is a total fail.
At least when I get it back it won't make noises when the clutch pedal is pressed. I'm going to list it for $12,500 next week.

That "statistic" is obviously from when they built decent cars.
The service dept was FULL of recall cars and they got two calls about oil consumption in the fifteen minutes I was there.
Why don't you try one and see?

I thought it was a current claim, but it's from 2014. Polk determined at that time that 96% of all Legacy Sedans were still on the road and then went further and found 96% of ALL Subies were. Back when I was in high school my mother worked for Subaru of New England, the east coast importer. My job was to wash the cars as the came on the lot from the train. I got paid $1 per car. I would throw a dealer tag on them and drive 1/4 mile down the street to the auto car wash for $.50. So I drove every Subaru that was sold on the eastern seaboard that year (69).
I wouldn't mind throwing an Impreza around for awhile, but the last time I looked at a sticker for one I couldn't stop laughing.

After they fix the engine and replace the clutch I might be inclined to keep it and drive it for awhile, it’s paid for , you go to auction and buy something unknown that has to get a bunch of work put into it because of hidden issues.. the clutch parts will be updated parts and probanly last a long time now.
It’s hard to believe 96% of any car brand range is still on the road at any given time, statistics say that accidents alone are going to claim a couple percent every few years along with natural disasters house fires etc..

I don't think they're updated.
A Google search yields lots of results with owners of late model subaru's with manual transmissions having clutch failures. WRX's and grocery getters like ours. Subaru are maybe the worst car company that exists when it comes to admitting faults/failures. The clutch isn't covered in the 80k mile powertrain warranty even though I've complained about the noises since the car was new.
Even if the car were absolutely perfect its miserable to drive. You'd HATE the AC in this car, Chris. It may as well not have any.
We may keep it another 6 months but I'll dance in the street the day this car is gone. A $1500 used cop car would be a huge upgrade to this pos.

a Nice cop car like officer stacy is an upgrade in ride quality to most newer cars!! if id have known shaun was ditching that id have probably came and got it with a trailer on my dodge..

yeah mnost newer car A/C is not great... they cycle the compressor way too early.. I did some forum posts over the years on how to mod them to work better... its done for CAFE standard BS..



I know a buddy of mine had a sTi for about a year and said it was fast but rode lkike crap and the clutch felt weak compared to his past Mustangs.. (he has mustang in his blood).. the AC in that car was weak too.. he sold that car , bought a 16 stang 5.0 that he proceeded to tear apart all over his garage about 2 months after he got it and now it has 670 HP at the tires and wicked cold AC..

Picking up the subaru today. Gonna be around a thousand bucks out of pocket for that clutch. I told em I want the old parts.

My 2007 Forester was a great car, but evidently was nearing the end of that era. My only complaint was the fancy transmission fluid that you pretty much had to get from the dealer at 6 dollars a quart.

Don't plan on buying any cars for a while!
