Found a 2 owner one that's a garage queen. 1984 with AC and cruise. But it does have a six cylinder.
A 350 basic longblock is only $1700 though.

Correction 305. The 302 is a Ford motor. And 351??? Chris could tell you. I didn't know a 6 was even an option. Tooling around town a 6 would be fine but you've already you don't care about mpg.

We're mostly looking for fun older cars. Mpg's don't matter. K5 Blazers and El Caminos are top of the list but we would settle for a nice cop car if one pops up.

6s were an option in all G body cars. Early versions it was a 3.8 Chevy and later was the 4.3, 305 was the only V8 offering since I believe 81 or 82 except for the Mexican Montes Carlo which came as a 350 4 speed stick. Auto was optional on the MX.

Even the SS in 81+ was a 305 albeit a slightly souped up version .
V8s were electronic carb. 4.3 V6 were TBI.

Autos in V6 up through 85 were th200C(lockup 3 speed ).
V8 through 85 were th350 non lock no OD.
86-88 got th200-4R lockup 4 speed OD.

All this info pertains to 81 and up cars. 78-80 were different cars in style and drivetrains..
they were considered G body but had different dash seats and engine options

Maybe find an mercedes240D manual. Some come with the largest sunroof ever incase you want to haul 12 ft whatever..

About 22mpg, never any speeding tickets, have AC. Easy to tow and very very reliable. Pretty cheap unless it is a station wagon

How are your Dorian weather preparations.

Good luck Johan

IDK if we can afford even a highly used mercedes. My friends dad still owns an 87 he bought new. He got a speeding ticket in it going 120.

Yeah the one we're going to look at this week is a 4.3 TBI with 3 speed th200. Very clean, low miles.
Also on the list to look at are a Jeep Wrangler, a Miata, and a JDM grey market 1994 Honda Kei Van.

I dunno what HS kid had. Would have been older than '86 as that is the year I started driving solo and his car wasn't new. It was auto and 305 tho. My Duster was a '72 but his was newer. I just don't remember how much newer.

The diesel mercedes are about as fast as my 5.9 tc2000... The pre-turbo ones aren't even that fast!

I didn’t have my G body cars new.. they were resto mods or Resto when I built them.
I had an 81 regal with a 4.3 V8, an 81 Malibu wagon 305 , an 86 monte LS with a 4.3 6, and a 85 elky with a 305... so yeah I’ve had a few G bodies.
Drivetrain swaps happened on some.. what I listed was how they came which from what I can tell were their factory engines.

305 motors were always available. Lower down in my post I listed th350 trannies as the V8 trans. I don’t remember ever seeing a th400 trans in a 1981 plus G body

But they will last twice as long as your TC2000.

I had a '92 or was it a '93 Caprice with the 305 in it. That car was HEAVY. Definitely needed a 350 and a tune.

The 67-69 Camaro Z28 had a 302ci option. It was an awesome motor.
