Greetings Fellow Skoolie Forumites ;-) & A Question.

Hi everyone,
It has taken me ages to try and find a place where I can share my mechanical, building and general bus conversion experiences.
Hopefully I have at long last found that place here in Skoolie.net. Even though we are at opposite sides of our planet, buses are still buses..... Aren't they?

After nearly 2 years on our conversion project, we can pretty much say it is now complete, although in reality that will never be the case.
There is always something that needs attending to around the 'house' mobile or otherwise.

Here's our only problem at the moment, it is our noisy brakes, in particular the rear ones.
Although it is reassuring to hear and let other road users know I'm actually in the process of applying the brakes I'm not so sure
that the noise should continue once I have removed my foot from the brake pedal But it does go away after a few seconds.
My concern is how do I remove the drums in order to check for wear and tear. The inspection ports only show me that the linings have still
got considerable life left in them eg; a good half an inch on the lining thickness, and there is no sign of any 'wetness' to be seen either.

If anyone has any tips or tricks to share in this mechanical area of home maintenance, I would very much appreciate your help and advice.

Dave.

Welcome Dave! I hope you will post lots of pictures of your bus during and after the conversion process - we are all waiting with baited breath! Perhaps the "coach conversions" section would be the most appropriate place? Anyways, regarding your brakes, do you have air brakes or hydraulic brakes? I don't know much about air brakes but if yours are hydraulic I would suspect that at least one of your rear slave cylinders is sticking. Do you feel like the brakes are still being applied after you release the pedal? If the problem is a sticking cylinder, you would need to take it apart, inspect it, clean it up, get new seals, etc.

My apologies somewhereinusa, but according to your Skoolie.net 'management/moderators'. My Google/Picasa link is deemed 'illegal and or pirated'
Guess it's time for me to end my short membership of this forum as I do not suffer idiotic moderators or management glady.

So thanks to all who followed this thread of mine, and may your adventures be happy ones.

OK Guys, My Sincere Apologies

Especially to Roy B. AKA GreyEagle, who was kind enough to explain how my fuse got lit. Thank you Roy and my apologies to fellow forumites and mods.
Had no idea moderators had such a massive problem with 'Spam Plebs' and other miscreants, and when Roy explained that reality to me, I had to hang my head in shame
for being so short sighted.

It definitely appears that moderators, particularly in this forum, deserve a medal for their dedication, patience and time in preserving the integrity of the site.
Thank you all, and please do accept my sincere apologies.
